Well that didn't take long to dispel.

Good thing Woj is on top of things as usual.

The meeting probably went exactly how I would imagine.

-He goes in and starts the meeting by saying how he doesnt think the team is committed to winning a title now and that unless they put more pieces together to compete this year he will go public demanding a trade.

-The team officials comment by saying he does not have a trade clause so could not have a say so in the team he gets traded too and they do not have significant interest in the teams he wants to go to. So since they hold the cards he can play nice for now, and trust that they will try to make a move this summer or before the trade deadline. Or he can get traded to a team that sucks and he will be worse off in the long-run.

-He wisely decides to issue a statement to play nice and leave after 2011 if he still isnt happy or hope a trade comes along to a team he wants and he can get out that way.

"The meeting went well," Paul said in a statement released by the team.

I just analyze things better than most.

If New Orleans wanted to trade him they would do it next year, not now.

All semantics, but Chris Paul will never directly demand a trade. There's no need; no use. With two years left on deal, he has no leverage.

You were wrong on both Von Wafer and Ron Artest but you were right about McGrady. I wouldn't go that far to say you analyze things better than most.

My favorite "right" was when I called that we get Scola from the Spurs, I think everyone killed me on that for almost a year until it happened.

at least that is that for Paul, for now, and we still have plenty of assets, no matter what I like our team and our chances going forward of adding pieces, either draft or trade.

New Orleans won't trade him unless they have to, and right now, with 2 years left on his contract, they are in no hurry.

    Sorry, CP3 huggers...ain't happening.

Who cares as long as the Rockets win the game.

And, IIRC, AB has played CP3 very well....Collison not so much.

I view this more as CP3 agreeing to "play along" until they can find the best deal. In other words, if he has to wait until the deadline, he'll do it as long as he gets to go somewhere he wants to go and the Hornets get a decent deal out of it.

Just because Mcgrady failed us doesn't mean you have to be anti-superstar. You've been adamantly against ever rumored trade for a big name since I can remember (Artest, Bosh, Paul), and I'm guessing it's because you can't bear to see our young, developing <strike>role players</strike> "future all-stars" be dealt, ie Budinger.

Superstars win championships. Only ONE team has won a title without a true superstar in modern NBA history, the 2004 Pistons. And that was because they were a defensive juggernaut and had borderline all-stars at every position. We are not a defensive juggernaut, and other than Yao (if healthy) we'll be lucky to have one other all-star.

If New Orleans wants to get maximum value for him, they'll trade him before he gets down to one year left and can threaten to bolt in FA on whoever trades for him.
