Monetarily, he should have stayed with the Greek team even. Yes Euro teams notoriously hose their players in pay, not paying out the real contract amounts. But Wafer picked a bad NBA economic climate to enter in. He got the Greek contract in PART cuz NBA teams weren't shelling out big bucks to anyone.

Von Hawk will sign with the Rocks and lead us to a playoff birth.

If not the Rockets than someone else.

He's definitely good enough to be a role player, the dude just has to get his personality right and not fight with every coach he's had.

Maybe he should go to a team with a coach not named Rick. He's 0 for 2. Maybe a Larry, Phil, Byron, or anything but a Rick.

Go take a smoke, heck take 5. You need to chill. Its not like he ran you over with his car twice. Just relax and watch Morey do his magic while Wafer goes around looking for a contract.

What a baby, couldn't hack it in Europe and still can't hack it in the US. If he wasn't such a head case he could probably fit in somewhere.

I forgot that he got kicked out of Europe. Man, I wonder what it is about him to get on the **** list of 3 different coaches in 1 season. He is a great offensive player, so it can't be his skills.

Morey said Wafer had ELITE athleticism not just good athleticism, hate to see that wasted. Hope he catches on somewhere.

We already know from observation his basketball IQ is low and, you must admit, it was pretty stupid to have a tantrum on the bench in the playoffs. Add those two things up. Then throw in how easy it was for Sasha Vujacic to get in Wafer's head and completely distract him. That was embarrassing to watch.

I'm pretty sure he didn't leave Greece on his terms. Rather he was basically forced out. Hence why he should've stayed in the NBA where contracts are ironclad.

He should try to get on Golden State's squad. It's almost entirely d-leaguers anyways. Also his shoot first approach fits in.

I hope he lands somewhere else, but once we got Martin, he was no longer needed on the Rockets.

    Sorry boys....DD moves forward.

It sounds like the Greek team wanted nothing more to do with him.

When someone attacks a player for lack of brain power and you'd like to defend said player - you should probably use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation unless you want us all to start to wonder about YOUR brain power.

All you Wafer apologists need to get a reality check on his "work ethic" and his "intelligence." The dude played his way off of 3 teams and out of an entire country. He verbally and physically disrespected our coach in a playoff series, he had played so selfishly over seas that they did not want him. And he was not resigned by the Mavs...the MAVS! He is a head case with very little IQ for the game.

There is no room in the NBA for people like him, the kind of player who has all the talents in the world but not a single ounce of passion to put it together, swallow his pride, and do what the coach asks. There are plenty of just as talented D-Leaguers who are more hungry and more respectful of the chance they are given.

See ya Von Wafer, no one will miss you.

Playoff snafu or not, the Rockets were never going to offer Wafer anything more than a one-year league minimum contract. Remember, because Wafer was on a one-year deal with Houston, the Rocket had no Bird rights on him and would have had to use the MLE to sign him to anything more than the league minimum. When Artest bolted to LA, the Rockets more than ever had to retain their MLE to see if they could add a significant player (luckily, they were able to use a Disabled Player Exception to nab Ariza). When nothing else materialized, the Rockets split the MLE to sign Andersen, Taylor (who was specifically drafted to replace Wafer anyway) and Budinger.

Yeah, I noticed you saying this in the Martin acquisition thread. Good to see that your fixations end when the team's need for said player's skill set also ends.
