If these two teams played, who would win...?

    04-05 Rockets

    G- Tracy McGrady
    G- Bob Sura
    F- David Wesley
    F- Juwan Howard
    C- Yao Ming

    Coach: Jeff Van Gundy

    vs

    09-10 Rockets

    G- Trevor Ariza
    G- Aaron Brooks
    F- Shane Battier
    F- Luis Scola
    C- Chuck Hayes

    Coach: Rick Adelman

Keep in mind, Ariza, Battier, and Chuck Hayes' defense...

T-mac was outstanding at that point in time and Yao was good too...

    I'd take 04-05

also, a better question would be... what if we swapped coaches... put adelman on the 04-05 team and van gundy on this year's team...

Doesnt matter how good the current team's defense is individually because they lack Yao. That's why the defense is actually bad this year. So you got a team in 05 that had stars in tmac and yao against a team with ineffective team D and a 6'7 center.

    Wouldnt even be close.

...umm it's just a valid question man, i thought it was a topic where one could argue for the other. at least i didnt post videos of grown men's dicks on here, just asking a question to start a conversation. If you think this needs to be locked then go cry a river to the mods..

but what if van gundy and tom t coached this current team though? and preached and emphasized more on defense...? It was clear ever since yao's younger years that he has trouble against smaller centers.. ( and chuck hayes is one of the smallest centers and one of the best defensive centers )

Yao would eat Chuck alive. 04-05 T-mac would decimate current Battier, who's simply not a lockdown defender anymore.

    Is that even a question?

That 04-05 team's starting lineup gain points against other teams's starting line-up, this team's starting lineup lose points against other teams' starting line-up.

04-05's team had the best record in 2nd half of the season, then JHO was out of the season, Sura had a knee injury in playoffs. Still that team took a loaded Dallas to 7 games.

i'm guessing ariza would matchup better with tmac and that would be the matchup...but that tmac would still score significantly on either of them.

yes but not many teams had a chuck hayes.. and any quick small center would give yao problems... what more can chuck hayes do? Battier can do what he did to Kobe on T-Mac, Ariza => Wesley, in terms of quickness and shot, Brooks ==> Sura, and please.. everyone knows Scola ==> Juwan Howard... I think this current team can actually give the 04-05 team serious match up problems...

doesnt matter. JVG and his staff can only do so much, the players have to actually go out and play.

and yao has trouble against small center who play offense, not just any small center. Chuck wouldnt be a threat to yao offensively or defensively.

It really isn't even close, nothing to discuss. One team is solid offensively and solid on D, while the other is bad defensively and not solid enough offensively.
