I purposely omitted Lou Williams and Jason Kapono. Neither helps us or improves the Rockets in any way.

    Iguodala+Brand=TMac+Scola

Works in terms of salaries. Philly expires ALOT of room for next year. And we get better this year. Think about how good this team could be if we get Iggy after Yao returns!

If the deal involves Scola just say no. He is quietly putting up good numbers based on his minutes and touches. He doesn't complain, he just wants to win.

You have to give up something to get something. Nobody in their right mind would exchange Iguodala for McGrady straight up. The only way you get Iggy is if you take Brand, IMO. Dalembert, for as bad of a contract as he has, only last one more year after this, so the 76ers would probably push for Brand to be included.

And the Rockets would tell them to go eff themselves if they insist on pushing Brand. I suspect they will be more polite than that, but will make it clear that Philly would need to go eff themselves.

No young players from our side.

    Tmac for Iggy/Dalembert

If they really offered this deal, i'm hoping Morey put it in his back pocket and is just wanting to see if any other teams are going to try and top that.

That is so good for us it isn't even funny. It FINALLY gives us a reliable guy who has proven in regular season and post season that he can make clutch plays in Iggy...and FINALLY gives us a shot blocking presence down low.

Hayes is nice, but he's not stopping anyone from layups.

Dalembert is only 2 years...Brand is a no-no...Sam is 2 years and he'll backup Yao next year.

The only main guy i'd give Philly is Scola. This would make Landry a starter and Andersen the backup PF and Dalembert and Hayes as Centers for this year.

So no Lowry and No pick is the deal breaker that works both ways here. When taking on Iggy you have to assume they won't let him go unless Dalemebert or Brand goes with him. So Lowry and Pick is the deal sweetner basically that keeps the trade ballanced. Even after this trade it still favors Houston I'll take Iggy+pick for Lowry even if it means taking on either one of Dalamebert or Brand. Some of you over rate the destruction of losing Lowry and taking on Dalambert and over rate the expiring of McGrady's contract. McGrady is as valued as and equivalent to a 1-10th lotter pick.

There's absolutely no way Philly would give up their pick, which, given the way their season is going, could be in the top 3.

Chance of them trading Iguodala is slim; the chance of trading Iggy and the pick is less than zero.

For all the crap that's been spouted about how ridiculous Arena's contract, and how glad we are we didn't trade T-Mac for him, at least Arenas is 27. Brand is 30 - that contract is possibly the worst one out there, and short of receiving a Lebron, there's no way Houston should be interested.

Philly isn't going to give up their 1st round pick. Dalembert isn't very effective any more. We're giving up too much with Lowry AND Scola. Not a good deal for either side.

bima, taking dalembert to get iggy is a good trade off even if through salary constraints it cost the team scola or lowry.. They could also trade shane for a te. U mentioned with a iggy and sam for tracy deal would have the payroll at 65m. Well, they could trade shane like utah just did and denver did the yr prior with camby. That drops them down to 58m. Chase can backup ariza and iggy. Landry and his play makes scola a little expenable also, but u do need depth. You probably can get amir johnson or powell for 2m or less since landry will be ur 35min guy. As for lowry, again, conroy as brooks back or bring lull over since brooks will be the 35 minute guy. To get a young talent with production like iggy and a backup center for yao who is also young in one move is worth it i think. Not to mention, a guy like anderson would probably fair better at pf if he has a guy like dalembert at center. That a good combo along with chase off the bench.

She-Mac trades that make some sense and work under the cap- Would love to hear replies

    Kings get
    McGrady
    Cook
    Dorsey

    Rockets get
    Kevin Martin
    Kenny Thomas (expiring contract)
    Andres Nocioni
    Spencer Hawes

Rockets get athletic wing scorer and frontcourt depth, can also make it Lowry instead of Dorsey and get Udrih if they prefer and still work under the cap

    76ers get
    McGrady
    Cook
    Lowry

    Rockets get
    Andre Iguodala
    Samuel Dalembert
    Louis Williams
    Thaddeus Young

Rockets get athletic wing scorer and true center who is mobile and can anchor the defense this year and give good insurance for Yao next as a means of limiting minutes or starting, as well as two intriguing young chips for Deep Blue Morey

    Knicks get
    McGrady
    Cook

    Rockets get
    Al Harrington (expiring deal)
Cuttino Mobley’s contact (expiring for cap purposes and paid by insurance)
    David Lee

Rockets get nice scorer in Harrington who has an expiring deal and could be moved, and a strong rebounder in David Lee, although the Knicks seem to want to deal only if they can clear Curry or Jefferies contracts and I don’t see Morey doing that unless they give him Gallinari, so swap Harrington for Gallinari and Jefferies which works cap-wise

    Hornets get
    McGrady
    Cook
    Brooks
    Dorsey
    Taylor

    Rockets get
    Chris Paul
    Peja Stojakovic
    Darius Songalia

Rockets get a top ten player/top 3 point guard who can score and lead and can be a force with Yao igniting the break on outlets after defensive rebounds, or with the various pieces we have now, and Peja can still shoot which would be nice with Yao.

    Warriors get
    McGrady
    Cook
    Dorsey or Taylor

    Rockets get
    Andris Biedrins
    Corey Maggette
    Anthony Randolph
Speedy Claxton (expiring contract/would be waived)

Rockets get a good shot blocking center who can even play alongside Yao in a big lineup, a wing scorer in Maggette (shockingly productive per minute numbers which matter to Deep Blue), and a versatile front court athlete that Morey has long been enamored with in Randolph.

    Pistons get
    McGrady
    Cook

    Rockets get
    Richard Hamilton
    Tayshaun Prince
    Kwame Brown (expiring contract)

Rockets get a smooth shooting guard, another strong perimeter defender (creating more flexibility for more Morey magic), and a legit 7 footer who can bang, and has an expiring contract.

    Bulls get
    McGrady
    Cook
    Dorsey or Taylor

    Rockets get
    Brad Miller (expiring contract)
    John Salmons (opt out clause)
    Tyrus Thomas
    Joakim Noah

Rockets get a big who knows how to operate in Adleman’s system as well as anyone, and add needed size, a talented, albeit erratic wing, and two young athletic bigs who dramatically alter the present and future. If this trade is too slanted to the Rockets, removing Noah and Dorsey/Taylor still works under the cap.

Wizards (more like Bullets than ever) get
    McGrady
    Cook
    Taylor

    Rockets get
    Caron Butler
    Mike Miller (expiring contract)
    Brenda(n) Haywood (expiring contract)
Fabricio Oberto or Randy Foye or Javaris Crittendon (expiring contacts for any of the 3)

Rockets get an athletic versatile wing who can score and 3 expiring contracts who can be trade chips or fill roles on this team- shooter from the wing, serviceable center, and either a travel buddy for Scola who gives depth up front or a backcourt athlete who can score, or an enforcer/body guard type.

LOL you're right. I guess in a conference where a 13-17 record still puts you in the position for the 7th seed, anything is possible.

Rockets4279 most of us know that T-macs contract is not worth squat! But hey we always think our guys are worth more then they are. we want the sun and moon for our trash.

But if Morey thinks its worth giving up a Landry or Lowery we will live with it,but we reserve the right to second guess him and b**** and moan ;) Just think about all the threads coming to analyze his choice!

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. A few additional points:

--What "Utah just did" was give up a promising first round pick (Maynor) in order to get OKC to take Harpring's contract. Battier makes more than Harpring, whose contract is also covered by insurance. No thanks on giving up both a team leader AND a first rounder. And that's IF the Rockets can even find a taker. Taking on Dalembert's contract without a clear plan for dumping other salaries is the GM equivalent of leaving your feet with the ball without knowing where you're going with it.

--Dalembert has the PHYSICAL tools to be a good backup center, but he's seriously lacking in EFFORT and consistency. Those are the traits it takes to be an Adelman player and was a main reason why T-Mac was no longer wanted on the active roster. No thanks to Sam and his terrible contract. The $12.9M salary for next season (plus the resulting luxury tax consequences) just isn't worth it. Not even for Iguodala.

--If Iguodala had Butler's contract, maybe I'd change my tune. But he doesn't. He's got a gargantuan, near-max contract that runs until 2014. I think that Morey is not going to overlook this fact as much as many on this BBS are. The fact remains that Iguodala himself has a "bad contract" that Morey MIGHT be willing to let Philly out from under. In his mind AI and Dalembert are two bad contracts. He'll take AI's bad contract because he's such a good player. But not both contracts.

--As much as I like him, I just don't trust Aaron Brooks to be the Rockets' "40 mpg PG". The Brooks/Lowry combo is so effective because we have both of them. I'd strongly prefer to re-sign Lowry.

--In my mind, Scola and Lowry combined are more important to the Rockets being a successful team than Iguodala would be. If getting AI means losing both of those guys AND the Rockets also need to take on another bad contract, I'd just stay put and let T-Mac's contract expire.
