Lewis Lloyd or Mitchell Wiggins before the drugs. Either would be close to all-stars with today's NBA Rules.

I bet we could use Rudy Gay right about now. He was a Rocket for all of a few seconds, albeit an unsigned Rocket.

    John Lucas, Sr.

Now, if we could go with a former Rocket with only 1 All Star appearance, I'd like to nominate three players, Kevin Willis (in his prime) & Otis Thorpe (in my opinion, the best PF the Rockets have ever had), & little Calvin Murphy (he took no crap from anyone).

Otis Thorpe and start him at Center. He was big and strong and could hold all of the Centers today. He could rebound better than them and defend better than most centers. At 6'11 he would be Andersens height and stronger. He could also block shots and steal. Him and Hakeem made one of the best defensive front lines in NBA history even though he was relatively forgotten. He averaged 14 points and 10.6 rebounds in our Championship year. He could be the missing backup when Yao comes back and the missing physical presence starting along side Luis until he does come back.

Cuttino Mobley would fit this cast like a glove. Great defender, tireless worker, consistent 3 point shooter (for Yao's inevitable return), gutsy, ultimate competitor, and most importantly, he can create his own shot off the dribble. To preemptively address the obviously forthcoming claim that he was too selfish to fit into our current system, the guy made huge strides in his lone year under JVG in becoming a more disciplined team oriented player.

Otis Thorpe actually was an allstar once or else I would choose him. I gotta go with Kenny Smith but Cuttino or Cassell would be great as well.

Sorry... you might as well ask for an actual griffin. You know... one of these:

Unfortunately, the creature you described doesn't exist any more than a hybrid of eagle and lion does.
