    ...except he was acting.

joaquin was doped out of his mind. by way of my drug expert gf she said he was smoking crystal meth before the show.

Rasta? I'm just throwing this out....but, I think Phoenix was on something a lil more euphoric than weed in this interview.

He was promoting a movie, just like we'll find out Phoenix was doing in this appearance.

it's all one big performance piece for him and Affleck. he is purposefully playing dumb and confused in interviews.

    check out this one...

I guess you have never seen the Kurt Cobain interview on Headbangers Ball?

Phoenix was definitely on smack. That, or he gave himself a Mickey Finn.

He's totally playing a joke. He was doing well until the end where Dave says "And uhh Joaquin I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight." LOL That was indeed funny. Not even he good keep a straight face under that grizzly adams beard and he looked like he wanted to bust out laughing.

there's no "drug expert" here that can watch some youtube videos and clearly delineate whether he is even acting or not.

he can at least spit sentences out in that interview and it even looks like he is acting in the clip you posted just by the expressions and eyebrow movements.

nah u can see joaquin tightening up and his face and lips were doing moves not like cobain. crystal meth sounds about right. i've never been on it but i have done x a few times. the times when it has been speed based i have felt like the way joaquin looked. you tighten up when you want to speak and your whole body just feels tight and jittery.

robbie, your experiences on illicit drugs doesn't really matter here. You or your girlfriend do qualify as expert analysts.

he is an actor and is getting the last laugh.

okay, you see the thing about speed is it is an upper......Joaquin is relatively calm, very relaxed. If he was on speed, you'd see him chewing on his lip/tounge, bouncing a leg/tapping a finger, maybe fidgeting with his shirt/glasses/hair etc.....and the inevitable dry mouth. He'd also be fumbling over his thoughts/words....and probably a lil sweaty...... But, he's just cool, calm, collected and tarred out of his mind. I've seen it a hundred times. He's on the horse dude.

Letterman was kind of an ass -- I think he should have had some more fun with the whole thing.

If it is just a stunt, then it seems his model for his "acting" is Steven Adler from celebrity rehab
