He not only stepped up, he was the only star player tonight! The rest of the team should take notes from him before playing Game 2.

True, Battier was owned by AK47 for one half. Most of the rest of our team were owned for at least three quarters.

Unfortunately, Battier can't make his own shot just like all other rockets outside of TMac, Scola, and Brooks.

Battier had an excellent game offensively but his defense was missing.

His counterpart Kirilenko had a better overall game.

We got outplayed at every single position except the SG position (which wasn't spectacular either), which was expected.

I find it interesting that someone who got outplayed has a thread congratulating him. But considering Battier's past in playoffs it would make sense. I, for one, was relieved that he was making his shots.

I thought Scola was great as well. He got the Jazz in foul trouble, but eventually became a victim of it himself. Nobody else really showed up tonight......

Hopefully he didnt waste a great performance on a night where the team couldnt get many rebounds and anyone not named Shane kept missing layups.

Shane did miss 2 FTs, but I think we'll give him a pass on that. :D

    He was spectacular...offensively...

With the way the Jazz play he isn't very effective on D. I'd like to see him play on Okur since they don't like to post up with him much. Even if Okur takes him in the post, he has to go back and defend him as 3pt shooter.

Shane play brilliant offense, just great from the long range, from the inside.

But as you guys said eralier he was pretty much killed by Kirilenko. So great offense but bad defense by Shane. Gotta mix it.

Battier shows up for 4-for-4...on a loss.

yeah, so he was perfect on a night. can you recall that when it was kind of a big deal?

    7/7....

with more of his field goals coming from a 3 point line..

but lost. It seems, on any other given night..IN A REGULAR SEASON GAME...

THAT A PERFORMANCE LIKE THAT WOULD JUST ABOUT GUARANTEE A WIN

    FOR THE ROCKETS..

All'z i gotta say is...I still wouldnt take back Colin Powell for Gay.

    Battier and Scola showed up.

In fact the reason the game was as close as it was and we came back in the 3rd was Scola as a one man gang. Drawing fouls on people, jawing with officials, grabbing boards and showing what had to be done.

Battier, tmac and scola were 22,20 and 14/13.

Not coincidentally these are the only rockets players with playoff experience. all the other guys either have never seen pro playoff action before or are 100 years old

Utah for the most part is the exact same team save korver... if advantage was going to anyone in the 4th on that account it was utah 100%.

see how the guys respond tomorrow

nothing against it...i'm down for Battier to show up and be a factor, on offense.

But if a sub-par performance from him on the offense, means a win by playing some great defense..(not saying he didnt cuz i didn't see game 1) i'd rather him go 3-7 and the Rockets win.

Wrong game to to pick on Shane when he did so well compared to others. Are you trying to distract people from your "Brooks will be the Jazz killer" thread?
