I think he is paid a lot for what he has achieved, has he underachieved? i donĀ“t really now, i think yes, because getting points or have a good playoffs series is not enough for me, i think the star has to do what it takes to win, and clearly, the rockets needed something else than scoring each time, and the same when he was in orlando.
Tmac was getting his shots off he just wasn't knocking them down. Another statement game, another poor performance by Tmac. I wonder why he didn't pose his will on the Spurs?
He was taking some bad outside shots and he wasn't finishing in the paint. Part of it has to do with him not knocking them down, but it also has to do with his shot selection, though I suppose I often scratch my head at why TMac takes certain shots. TMac will not be able to lead us in the playoffs; the only way we will succeed is if both Rafer and TMac do well. If either one falters, we're in trouble. You see what happens when Rafer and TMac have a bad game? Disaster against the good teams... Unfortunately it looks like Rafer's March performance was mostly a fluke.
Why is it the fans that criticize what Tmac says usually say a lot more dumb things themselves? Quote: Originally Posted by Jerry36 If Hakeem was in the eastern conference he wouldn't have any titles either.
Becuase we're just a bunch of idiots on a message board and people expect us to make dumb statements.
Well said... I had thought of making the dominique comparison myself.. You look at our team without Tmac and its not a 50 win team - not even close. At best, i'd say we win between 44-46 games. Even if were at full strength, we would only be one of the contenders but to likely win it all, we'd need a reliable 3rd option. As much as i love Rafer, he is too inconsistent for the role. But if Scola puts up 16 and 9 next year and Landry/Brooks improve, there is no telling how far we can go.
I think the "focus" point might be true in the regular season, but in the post season, Tracy really does look different. We ALL know winning changes everything. Let's say the team, not "he," won those two game sevens instead of winning them. Would the tone be different? I guarantee it would be. If his performances were the same, but the team won instead of losing. But...that's the thing as some have said here. Fans will look to blame someone. The blame was given to both Yao and Tracy last year. Fair or not. If you want the glory, you gotta accept the blame.
He is who he is. There isn't anything we can do to change him.. That's why I don't call him an underachiever.. Does he have the talent/skill set to do more? Of course but you can't change his personality/demeanor/passion.. This is what you get Houston so no complaining.. Just wanted to add YES I want to trade him and have wanted to trade him for the past 2 years.
It's extremely frustrating watching McGrady play sometimes. Case in point, yesterday against the Spurs, Spurs with the ball. The ball was swung from one side to another, which ended up with a wide open 3 by Bruce Bowen in the left corner. In the replay, you can see that the Rockets players are scrambling on defense, trying to cover each other's man. And then you see McGrady, casually strolling in the paint, and watched Bowen take a wide open shot. He didn't run toward Bowen to challenge (or at least bother) his shot, he didn't box out and get ready for rebound, he just started walking casually toward the other side of the court when the ball was still in the air. He just doesn't have it. The fire, the passion, the will to win like the great ones. You can tell from his on court body language, his nonchalant interviews, his past shortcomings in his career. McGrady is a fantasitic player when his jumpers are falling and he's attacking the basket. But the other 90% of the time, I want to punch a hole through the wall because it just appears that he settles for the easy route and gives up on plays and games way too often. It worries me when we are constantly asking ourselves about our franchise player: Did he do everything in his power to win?
These threads are so tired. T-MAC hasn't dropped 30 a night on a consistent basis for years, and he isn't doing it this year.. it isn't going to happen. That doesn't mean he isn't a legitimate scorer, he still draws defenses, double-teams, and is averaging 20+ PPG. As far as the giving effort thing, let's be honest.. no one on here knows how hard he is trying, so its just ridiculous to try and gauge his effort by how hard you think he's running or whatever other silly observation you make. Plus, he was playing with a hurt shoulder yesterday afternoon, and yet people still expect him to drop 40 on a great defensive team like the Spurs, and if he doesn't.. trade his lazy ass right? Give me a break.
yes. Tmac is an underachiever. I mean come on: expectations, history, and on-court behaviour loudly attests to that!!! - 2-0 and 3-1 up multiple times. - seems to give up easily. - disappears in games. - lacks intensity when the game is on the line. - settles for fadeaways (and we all know his ability to take it to the rim). - multiple injuries (not his fault, but impedes achievement). - multiple scoring champion. - multiple all-star. - 19 million bucks a year. - arguably the best player on each team he's been on, each year (except rookie/soph). The facts speak: Tmac has underachieved so far
Houston led 2-0 on dallas, ON THE ROAD, and managed to lose the series. Game 7 At HOME COURT is not a 50-50, because there are only a few teams who managed to lose game 7 playoff game at home, and mcgrady took care houston will be one of those. His common disappearance on crucial and important games is too often. Yesterady vs san antonio, when the team struggles, its the superstar who should carry the team. Right now mcgrady has the BEST supporting cast he EVER had, yet isnt going to pass the first round this year aswell.
Conclusion: Trade mcgrady at the end of the season and bring a star that can actually dominate the game and doesnt evaporates on the moneytime like a r****d.
