I don't disagree with the title of this thread...

...BUT, from the 1 replay they showed off the call in question at the end of the game, I thought Bavetta did a good job. Billups barely got touched on his way flying out of bounds and Tayshaun did call time-out, BUT as Bevetta was making the 5 second call. Then, at the end of the game, Tayshaun indicated he yelled timeout as loud as he could. Um, from the reply, it looked like you just shrugged your shoulders and whispered timeout...

But again, I see no reason why referees stick around so long in the NBA

    heat/pistons game 2
little incident beetween s.anderson / hamilton
he overreacts and give anderson a T and protects hamilton like some kind of bodyguard, too funny

btw on this play, none or both players should have been hit with a technical fault, not just one

Give me Crawford over hothead, arrogant Steve Javie anyday. The man came out of the womb indicating a technical.

not only that, it was actually a clean block by Anderson and it was Hamilton who got a bit physical b/c of it.

Wasn't the foul in game 7 on Nowitski called on Ginobli? I really haven't heard anyone complain about that call.

But that doesn't change the fact that Bavetta sucks and last night's T call on Andersen was terrible. I had to stop watching after that.

You know, I can't be too mad about that anymore. Since we won the series and that was the last technical foul (or any foul call for that matter) he ever called, he got what he deserved.

it was a foul on ginobili he came across and tried to block the shot and ended up grabbing his hand unfortunately it was right after the ball hand already been released and at that close range there is no real way that he had a chance of blocking that shot. stupid play by ginobili give him the basket and then make some fts on your end game over. oh well.

I'd take Bavetta over either of these two. Wasn't it Javie who tossed Drexler for nothing in the playoffs no less. Bad vision and a missed game action calls are one thing, they are so much more excusable than ego driven grudges that bias for and against certain players.

If anyone has a TIVO of the mavs/spurs game 7, check out the reffing in the 4th quarter. I just started watching it after Kerr was talking about the refs, and I noticed the virtually (if not every) call against the Mavs was made by Bavetta. There was another (I've seen him a lot, but don't know the name) who seemed to be trying to balance it out by calling primarily fouls on the Spurs.

Whenever Duncan was in the post, I could predict whether a foul was going to be called simply based on which ref was standing under the basket. If it was Bavetta, it was a foul; if not, it wasn't. Almost every time (until the last minute or so).

How do the Rockets get some refs on their payroll? Les needs to work harder dishing out the unmarked tens and twenties.

It's more likely the Vegas betting houses that have refs in their pockets as opposed to owners

I don't know about all this other stuff, but Bavetta is over 200 years old and can still run up and down the court for an entire NBA game. I say that's pretty dog-gone impressive.
