A friend of mine is buying a new PC and looking for retail website with good prices etc. he has a huge moniter already so he's just looking for the system; and he's looking for a games powerhouse machine. any of you got links for something like this? Thanks ------------------
My father, after EXTENSIVE research, just ordered a Dell. He got a lot of bang for the buck. I have an 8 month old e-machine from microcenter. The price was wonderful, and I got a lot of computer. If you are running games, don't forget to add memory (RAM). Unless you get a high end machine, it probably won't come with a lot. Adding some extra memory really improves the performance of the machine, especially if you are going to run elaborate games. It's also to the point where it's very cheap, and easy to install. Also, don't forget to look at hard disk space. Games will eat it up FAST. Don't worry about the speakers, you can always add better ones, usually cheaper than what is provided by the manufacturer. Also, any new computer will probably come with one or more USB ports. When you get periperals (joysticks, etc.) try to get ones with a USB interface. It will allow you to plug in multiple controllers if you choose. USB also doesn't have the problem of having to reboot the computer to detect the controllers, especially helpful when you change them. You can also plug in several to a USB hub -- nice in multi-player games. ------------------ Stay Cool...
