Yep. Appearing not to meddle in the election, Obama looked so very noble. Like the sculpture ornamenting the prow of a ship that hit an iceberg or reef and quickly went under. Or imagine (okay, fine, an African-American version of) George Washington crossing the Delaware. That boat snags a big rock. "Oh, s***," says the boat's main occupant, without changing his forward gaze, thinking as the water rushes in and the boat sinks and the rowers swim for it, "maybe this wasn't the best strategy, now Trump will be President.....but, but, in my heart of hearts....her emails!"

this makes zero sense. he didn't want to stop foreign influence in the election because he didn't want to interfere in the election?

One of the Dumbest Trumper Fox News talking points of the past 4 years. Like a broken record keeps on getting repeated over and over and just because we are sick of answering this bad faith question, it's taken as evidence from the Trumpers that this argument has any legs to it.

    IT DOESN'T.

Obama sanctioned the Russians, and kicked out their diplomats in retaliation. In protection of the election, Obama tried to alert Americans but it was MITCH MCCONNELL and PAUL RYAN who REFUSED to take part in any bipartisan effort (because they obviously wanted Trump to win & are unpatriotic hacks) and worked with states to alert them of Russian interference in their systems, and with the campaigns.

It was the case that the Russians actually did try and hack into voter roles, etc. We probably only know this because of the Obama admin FBI, and NSA that worked with state & local governments to identify those hacks and protect that.

    ........

So why is that somehow a talking point that in any way creates a Whataboutism that excuses Trump's blatant invitation and coordination with foreign governments to help him on the November election?? He said it clear as day on the White House lawn that he wants China to help him, and was impeached for asking the Ukrainians to interfere on his behalf.

Trying to create this whataboutism crap just shows either a highly ignorant outlook on election security, or you are admitting you are a hack that nobody should take seriously.

No he didn't want to be accused by the Right for trying to tip the scales in favor of Hillary.

Obama has always been super cautious about norms, and trying to do everything he can to avoid giving talking points to FoxNews and the Republicans, but people underestimate the fact that FoxNews and Republicans are going to accuse Democrats of anything and everything in the most extreme belligerent ways possible REGARDLESS.

Yes... Obama cared to protect the elections to the best of his ability. It makes no sense to suggest otherwise.... I mean is Obama a secret Trump supporter who wanted Hillary to lose? That's basically what you are saying here.

But no... the FBI, and Obama officials should have been more outspoken about what they knew was happening, and shouldn't have been so cautious worrying about what FoxNews and Rush Limbaugh would say. They were going to accuse Democrats of being Satan's spawn either way.

    ...being the first black...
    ...(or half-black)...

    ...President of the United States...

...Obama had a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't tint on his presidency...perhaps moreso than any other president in modern history.

Bad enough he was a Democrat (and all the Dr. Evil that entails)...he had his every step dogged about everything from his wardrobe to his house guests to his eating habits. No way he could have done anything like not adhere to "norms"...(not like the Republican Senate routinely got away with doing, by screaming bloody murder at how un-American and pro-Kenyan he was, and refusing to confirm Justices for instance)...

...in spite of everything else...he wound up being about as "black" as anybody else in that same spot winds up being...
...having to be twice as right about something that others get away with being completely wrong about...;)

Answer for you. It was Obama, and he did take action to prevent it, and it has been posted on these forums many times. Feel free to search it.

    You're welcome in retrospect.

Obama did take action. But he didn't publicize what was happening for the reasons you mentioned.

Hillary and Bill's (that Loretta Lynch ambush) gaffes won them no favors. Their campaign managers were also tone deaf to Hillary's weaknesses, which Wikileaks opened up for everyone.

Those hacks crippled her campaign with independents, but it was only confirmation of attitudes deeped by the Dem primary contest rather than refuting a "carefully groomed image".

It's only because the final margins are so tight that the Russian hacks are an issue.

I'd rate Comey's letter bomb as the biggest momentum killer as it was a day after Hillary won the last debate when it dropped. What was the cause of Comey's investigation? Huma using her shady and creepy ex husband's laptop to view campaign emails.

You can't make any of this up...

The biggest crime in all of this is the wholesale theft of DNC voter information by gucifer and state actors. That's pretty much the national playbook of their campaign strategy and allowed RNC and Trump to efficiently move presence and money to contested battleground states without spinning up an elaborate demo gathering and number crunching campaign.

There was an interview w/ Ted Cruz's campaign manager who said Trump's data science and on the ground ops were poorly undeveloped.

That leak likely saved them a lot of time, money and effort while coming out like money efficient geniuses.

Nah...FAKE NEWS. Brad Parscale is the REAL mastermind.
