Haha. Not being mean, we all say false things, but I love the posters that say “harden missed that purposely”, in an absolute tone, with their expertise reasoning, are proved wrong immediately after and poof, disappear.

Anyway, should we not be worried that with 3 seconds left our coach didn’t call up the play to miss that on purpose?!?!?!

    *sigh*

At least our coach did not take out the player that could not miss.

Subbing out Burke for Curry in crunch time was mindboggling.

RoCo consciously hunts for tip ins. This is another part of his game that he hones.

RoCo and PJ worked together to get that tip in.

The play was later explained by ESPN’s Tim Legler on SportsCenter:

“Robert Covington is going to get all of the credit, but watch P.J. Tucker on the other side. He basically pins Kristaps Porzingis under the basket and uses that brute strength, and that allows Covington to come over there and have some space to get that tip-in.”

Yeah... Carlisle looked like he overthought that.

also, we seemed to lack urgency in the last few minutes... could be veterans who were not rattled or just being blasé ... or just knowledge that Mavs have not been klutch

If roco can get 16 plus, 10 plus rebounds in every game. Houston will have high chances to win

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. But the reason I'm not a conspiracy theorist is that I believe the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. (This is often known as Occam's Razor.)

In this case, the simplest explanation is a conspiracy. Covington has confirmed that he and PJ collaborated. The only question is whether Harden was in on it. To believe that Harden wasn't in on it, you'd have to believe that he suddenly missed after hitting every prior free throw, that he just happened to shoot it wide when his misses are never wide, and that he just happened to miss it to the left when, as Covington has acknowledged, misses are usually to the right. If Covington had played the probabilities, he would have switched places with PJ before the free throws so he could have circled around to the right.

D'Antoni's statement is meaningless, since it's based on what Harden told him. And Harden is saying exactly what I'd say if I had just executed a game-saving trick play and wanted to be able to do it again. Why on earth would you confirm to everyone that you've practiced that miss well enough to execute it like that?

Anyway, for public consumption: The miss was totally unintended. Just tremendous work by RoCo and PJ, and a bit of luck.

Poor Officiating put us in an awkward situation. There should have been 3 free throws.

This is what wingspan + athleticism brings to this Rockets team.

Be sure to hit the arrow on side of pic to see the still of RoCo and the Unicorn hanging in mid air together.

Still need a few more long defensive minded athletes like RoCo.

That's the key thing - you never see Harden miss a free throw like that. Usually it's off the back of the iron when he misses - which is why he gets a decent amount of roles.
