Yeah, I meant public-perception-wise. The NBA or the team aren't going to make him admit it, for sure.

Was the 14 day period of quarantine suggested by the experts applicable to finding out if you have Covid if you come into contact with someone who does? (If so, how do asymptomatic individuals fit it to this?)

Or is 14 day quarantine supposed to be sufficient for those who are mildly sick and then recover? (This doesn't make sense either given that I thought in some individuals it can last for weeks.)

I get that being tested for active virus is best way (maybe only?) of knowing when quarantine is over.

But I never understood why people self-quarantined for 14 days if they came into contact with Covid given the number of asymptomatic carriers.

My employer wants me to travel with someone "who had Covid" but quarantined for 2 weeks from wife. I haven't heard anything about whether he has passed an active case test. Little scary.

Has this really been proven? I read so many inconsistent reports.

The 14 days is the maximum INCUBATION period.
For most people it is much shorter..about 5 days.
During that time the virus cant be detected by even PCR. So you have to stay in quarantine to see if you develop a symptom.
If you still havent then you can leave your quarantine.
If you have come in contact with a known case especially if its your wife you should go take a PCR test at that point to make sure you arent asymptomatic.
The recovery depends on the person. There are people who clear it in 5 days and there are people who clear it in 60+ days.
There are also many people who have cleared but still suffer the sequalea. Like pneumonia, headaches, fatigue, chills etc.

So youe friend could be an asymptomatic even if he quarantined for 14 days.
It is a very infectious virus so it is very possible that no matter the precautions he got infected. Unless he and his wife live in separate floors and they also didnt sleep in the same bed or share the same bathroom before she got diagnosed.

I also want to see these studies since there have been many reported cases of people who shed the virus again after they were "recovered".

They went into quarantine when they had contact with someone because we didn’t have tests or sufficient tests. So best way of not spreading the virus was to self quarantine until u can have a test or to see if u get any of the symptoms

You shouldn't do it, @jcf. Seriously. It's too dangerous, in my opinion. Way too dangerous. Also, travel how? If by car, you can't get "6 feet away" from the fellow, and you would be inside a car with the windows rolled up and the AC on, right?

You'd be crazy to travel by air. One of the countries leading infectious disease experts, wish I could recall his name, caught the virus while flying. It hit him hard and he ended up in the hospital. He was taking every precaution. Wore a mask, an N95, wore gloves, didn't touch his face. The only thing he didn't do, and he said all this in the interview I saw, was that he didn't wear a face shield. He said the only way he could have caught it was from his eyes. Seriously. Also, the airline told him ahead of time that the occupied seats would be spaced apart. No one sitting right next to someone else. When he got on the jet, he saw that that wasn't the case. Said he almost turned around and left and wished that he had. The airlines don't even pretend to do that now.

Depends on your sauces lol. The 11 days after last symptom is a conservative value provided by Scott Gottlieb. Let me know if you want a link and I'll look for it tonight during non-working hours.

Regarding the inconsistencies, it's pretty crazy right? I have a few individuals I trust, Dr Gottlieb among them... even though he has money interests as well :/

Yea so many studies that detect viral shedding after 'recovery,' but it seems the reported results were not in earnest and that there is a difference between shedding active and dead viral progeny.

I can tell you guys my experience, I tested positive and only had symptoms for about 2 days. I stayed in quarantine for 13 days and tested again because my wife decided I needed to test negative before being around her and our kids. I tested positive again and my work (MD Anderson) said they would not test me again because I would test positive for several weeks because I still had the dead virus in my system. So I asked when it was safe for me to be around my family and she said the CDC recommends 10 days and at least 3 straight days of no fever. My wife followed up with Memorial Herman infectious disease specialists and she said the same thing. They said currently there are no reports of people still being contagious after 10 days and 3 straight days of no fever. Of course they said everything is still evolving and it could change. Take it for what its worth!

Weird that there are no further updates but I guess it takes longer and virtually no update on Prince Lüc's situation.

I’ve heard similar, but wonder if this is the case for everyone. Of true that people will continue to test positive for months afterwards, there’s a chance someone like Russ would never pass the leagues strict protocol. It also may explain why guys who test positive after arriving in the bubble are sent home for good.

doctors are just guessing ... they have no clue....this is how medicine works...this is how its always been... sometimes it take centuries to found out the real cause and or the true working mechanism of a disease...

Doctors are doing research with virologists . They are learning more about this complex virus. They aren't in the woods, but there is a long way to go. Viral mutation makes things much harder.

I don't think it's possible to play professional sports at a high level after Covid-19. Internal organ damage to the lungs and other parts of the body can be permanent. Lung tissue scarring from pneumonia due to any cause can be easily seen on an X-ray.

If a person has no symptoms and the case is not too severe then a strong comeback has to be possible. Either that or they never really had it.

If there are no symptoms, then the outcome is good. Even moderate symptoms, can cause internal damage before immunity develops. Let’s hope for the best, but I’m worried that Russ won’t be able to sustain himself at a high level.
