    What an idiot.

All who were already tested positive one day before didnt even travel to Orlando in the first place.:rolleyes:

Exceptionally bad luck by the NBA to come upon 2 presymptomatics exactly at the window that they couldnt be detected by human means.

We all saw what happened to the Bolshoi ballet.

    not really.

Those players never cleared initial quarantine that all these players had to do and have since left the campus to isolate at home or in isolation housing. In other words, these are entry positives who were caught before anyone else at the site could be exposed.

No professional sports, especially ones with contact, in the US should be playing now imo but the difference is the NBA is trying to salvage the end of its season. What is there to be gained besides an asterix mark championship? At least the other leagues (MLB, NHL, etc.) can claim naivety and hope the pandemic will be under control later in their respective seasons.

    Ehm wrong...?
These patients were tested before they left Orlando. You posted that yourself.
In the meantime they came in close contact for hours on end with all the travelling staff of their team. Did they teleport to Disney World?

that's your opinion. if it's something that shouldn't be going on then why follow it? I never understand the amount of time and attention people pay to something that they were for whatever reason against.

umm correct. the protocol was quarantine in the rooms for 48 hrs. then you were actually allowed outside the room if you cleared the guidelines. those two players never actually cleared it. if they infected others there would be more positive by now. these players are tested pretty much every single day as part of the daily routine.

Unfortunately that isnt necessarilly true. We need to know how many days have passed. How many is it now? Has it been more than 5 for the last team to arrive in Orlando?

In the covid thread @tonyx just posted a study on how PCR needs several days ( for the incubation to end) to be able to detect new infections.

IF they have infected someone knock on wood that shouldnt be many. It should be bellow 3 people each
Presymptomatics contribute the most in spreading the disease but thats because they are undetected. Their actual virility is much lower that post incubation.

    Assume what?
The so called initial quarantine took place in Orlando Florida. What that has to do with the previous trip they took by plane and busses to reach Disney World?

Money. It's not that complicated. The playoffs alone are worth $900 million in TV revenue. And if this season doesn't happen, the CBA is almost certainly going to get ripped up, which could threaten next season as well. Players are hesitant to go from millions upon millions in expected income from now until November 2021 to potentially almost nothing over that same time period. They have payments and debts that they made based on the contracts that they signed for guaranteed money. It's their livelihood. They're willing to accept a certain amount of risk to avoid losing their jobs indefinitely. There are limits, of course, but they at least want to try.

I actually think the NBA has it a lot easier than the other sports, because there's so little time left that they can set up a bubble and take these extra steps. MLB players won't do it because their season is longer, which makes it tougher to successfully complete. (For both the MLB and NBA, it's the postseason TV contracts that are the biggest part of their finances. The NBA has a much cleaner path to make theirs happen.)

I dont even understand what you are saying honestly. What masses are turning?

Anyone who takes hours long trip in a closed space with airconditioning for hours in close proximity with an infectious carrier is considered a contact and is under risk of infection.

We saw the videos of how they were all together unloading their baggage from the bus, greeting and talking with each other and queeing up all together as they reached their hotels in Orlando.
