I'm at a red light. Guy next to me starts yelling at me about how irresponsible I am for checking my phone in the car. Why am I looking at my phone at a red light? Because I'm using my phone's GPS. A guy I know gets a visit from the city because someone made a complaint that there was someone living in his basement. There is, his son. Why can't some people just mind their own business? Any busybodies on the forum? What is the mentality behind this?
Well there is this saying: "People have a thousand things to say about other people's lives, but never one about their own."
Gossip unfortunately people LOVE it. We love to complain and laugh at and blame others. Look at tabloids and reality TV for example. People just eat it up to mock others. Ultimately IMO it's kind of a Darwinian keeping up with joneses thing, if our neighbors don't have as nice a car then we feel more successful. We are only able to feel confident in ourselves if we feel we are "better" than our con specifics. So we are obsessed with monitoring what everyone else is doing. This really hit me when I heard my sister in law talk about her post pregnancy weight loss struggles. Something to the tune of "wow I thought I was bad but look at (insert celebrity)! She still looks fat!" Again I feel better about myself only because someone else is worse.
Whoa. I thought I just logged into the Next door app. Lost dogs, suburban Nazi's and soooo many Karen's. It's wonderful. I JUST WANT A CONTRACTOR SHUT UP!
