I hear these work great if you're looking for pills, real pick-me-up, maybe a slight upgrade from the caffeine. Be sure to ask your doctor, I'm sure he'll give you a scrip: If you take pills, you're a drug addict. If you drink a fifth of scotch or down a pot of coffee, you're drinking a beverage that happens to have some advantageous side effects that you totally aren't addicted to. I don't make the rules.
A lot of people need their morning coffee or tea because they've been sleeping for 8 hours without caffeine and wake up having withdrawal symptoms... and then say things like "I just HAVE to have my morning coffee!" Well, yeah.... because you're an addict who's going through withdrawal.
I have no problem with anyones coffee preference. Its the snobby people who think they are actually getting a quality cup of anything at Starbucks. And think holding that logo cup is still hip in 2020. Taco Bell does more justice to tacos then Starbucks does to coffee. /rant
Ok you can't drop that story in here and not elaborate on what she complained about. I laughed at his reply and I don't know why.
She went off on him being a sexist. I had to handle it internally. The associate ended up leaving for an all female firm. I gave her a good referral... Ed from my office bought her flowers the day she left... she wasn’t happy about that or the $100 Starbucks card attached.
I don't do energy drinks but have been known to grab one of their espresso doubleshots (espresso, sugar, cream are the only ingredients) early in the morning if I'm dragging ass. They work, for me at least.
When I get back to a “professional” setting at work vs where I am at now while in grad school. I’m just never going to make jokes anymore unless it is so PC it will make you cringe.
Truthfully, there is a lot of validity to what you are saying. I have seen the work place change over the last 10-15 years. Overall the changes have been positive, but people now will speak up if they feel at all disrespected. I have had luck with an open dialogue and the overwhelming majority of complaints have been resolved this way......... I one time said that a client had been "black balled" and had a white associate pull me aside and claim that he wasn't comfortable with my use of the term. We discussed it, we both looked up the origin of the word and ultimately I apologized for offending anyone and stated I would try not to use the term in the future. FWIW the term does not have an overt racist history or meaning but I do understand that it is possible someone could be offended, and in the business world I do not want to inadvertently offend someone ...... If I am offensive, I want it to be on purpose.
I've mentioned before McDonald's coffee is waaaaay better than Starbucks. I worked where they roasted and grinded it in Houston. I was a temp. If I would have waited to go permanent I never would have left. I worked on the McDonald's line. Other than shitty temporary pay I loved being a part of McDonald's coffee
