Ok, their decision, mark this down as a "Who cares"? for me.

    this is where I’m at

This show isn’t for me, and who thinks kids will care that he doesn’t have a gun? I bet many of these kids will like the show regardless. All I see online is a bunch of grown people crying and complaining about “their childhood being ruined” with a show that’s not even marketed to them.

If your kid wanted to watch this new cartoon, you’d discourage it because Elmer Fudd no longer has a gun? For me, if they still enjoy it and are entertained, then why should I care?

I agree with this but why not just create a new cartoon?

    Or create a new character?

I am no gun nut and would never own a gun but Elmer Fudd is supposed to be a hunter, its stupid to retcon the gun.

People remember these cartoons as huge childhood memories, why tamper with that.

It smacks of political correctness but still trying to profit from the IP.

If the gun is that much of an issue pick another cartoon.

What's next take the blaster away from Han Solo?

While economics does play a key role - a lot of gun violence is also related to suicides and domestic violence.

So while I agree that tackling socioeconomic issues is key, so is smart gun regulations. I don't understand why gun owners push back on this. You'd think they'd want to keep guns out of mentally ill people's hands for instance.

I’m sure those people can go watch the old cartoons if they care that much about it

it will still have much of the same stuff, just not a gun...maybe it has forced the writers to get more creative and not just reuse the same gags

it probably would’ve been best to just create a new cartoon, but to me it’s whatever...the target audience won’t care

What I love about this story is the possible reaction from the pro-gun lobby: new, gun-filled cartoons for children. It will be so funny when the roadrunner stands his ground, pulls out a well-rendered, realistic AR-15 and makes the coyote look like swiss cheese. Hell, I'd pay to see a pro-gun Mr. Rogers type show. Whole episodes on proper cleaning and home-made ammo.

I also have an issue with changing a character from what they were meant as by the original creator.

Like I said it just smacks of trying to make a buck from political correctness and virtue signalling IMO.

I feel u...as long as the kids enjoy it, it doesn’t matter to me if he has a gun, a water pistol, a slingshot, a carrot sword, etc

what made the show enjoyable for me as a kid was all the hijinks and fckery...I think they can still do that without the gun

I also think they can make a enjoyable show, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth about what this is really about.
