Imagine the comments if that picture was photoshopped. I mean it could still be 8 to 10 lbs and the camera angle was just good and he had a wide shirt on.
Yea, people forget that Dream went to the NBA finals as Rookie and was only beaten by a Legendary Celtics team. Rockets were supposed to be the next dominant team along with Lakers versus Celtics, and of course injury to Ralph changed everything. No one ever said, "Hmm...maybe the Rockets should have taken Jordan." NO ONE! That's how great the Dream was.
Pretty much, Jordan was seen as an Allstar player before draft but not as the Goat so Portland took Bowie. Won NCAA.
Honestly Harden's weight loss has me positively optimistic. I'm guessing he lost around 20 pounds? Imagine the relief on his knees, joints, etc. If he was a MVP carrying that weight imagine what he can do now... Quicker, less fatigue.
I hope he doesn't get too banged up with the weight loss. He plays with tons of contact and needs weight for cushioning
This is something he had to do. The man is not in his 20's anymore. If he wants to prolong his career he had to lose the weight.
maybe it hurts his post defense Did u worry about him getting banged up his 1st few seasons here when he was much slimmer? I’m thinking at best his body will be similar to how it was in 13-14 or 14-15...maybe a bit slimmer than 17-18
The weight loss was necessary for the long term. It will negatively impact his post defense. The long term solution there is to find a true bit who can shoot 3s and defend at a high level. Unfortunately, those guys are expensive
Kareem won his 2nd Finals MVP in 1985. One year after Dream's rookie season. Kareem also went on to win 3 more rings with the Lakers after Olajuwon was drafted. 38 may not be prime for you or me but Kareem was at least the 2nd best player on those Showtime Lakers Dynasty teams that had HOFers in Kareem, Magic, Wilkes, McAdoo and Worthy. What Olajuwon did in only his 2nd year in the league, beating the defending champions Lakers in WCF, was monumental.
Not sure if you ever saw Kareem in his younger days, but he was nowhere near his prime in '86. Was he still effective? Yes he was but nowhere close to what he was in his younger days. Kareem benefitted in his later years from the fact that his team was so stacked. Olajuwon was awesome but he also didn't beat the Lakers by himself. That '86 team was a phenominally talented squad. They were huge, athletic and fast. Hakeem was a big piece of that team but he wasn't a one man show. In fact, they finished off the Lakers with Hakeem in the locker room after being ejected. My post was in response to the reference to Kareem being in his prime. That was off by about a decade.
It isn't unfortunate that those guys are expensive. It is more unfortunate that our owner won't pay for them.
Guess he wasn't the only one. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...kes-nuggets-tough-beat-west-says-jamal-murray
That’s only part of the problem. The salary cap is shrinking and our top two players will soon account for 80 million dollars of that cap space.
