Sorry, just read ESPN , not the Tweet. I have Tweet blocked so I cant' see any Tweet. Guess Woj isn't a good detailed surced

The NBA's board of governors has voted to approve the league's 22-team format to restart the 2019-20 season in Orlando, Florida, a source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Under the plan from commissioner Adam Silver and the league's advisory/finance committee, 13 Western Conference teams and nine Eastern Conference teams would play eight regular-season games, a possible play-in tournament for the eighth seed and playoffs at the Walt Disney World Resort, sources previously said.

The source said the plan was approved by a 29-1 vote.

Sources told Wojnarowski that the NBA has set the draft for Oct. 15, with the draft lottery to be held Aug. 25.

October 12 (Last possible date for Game 7 NBA Finals)
    Free Agency a week later
and reporting for training camp a month later.

No time off (even if they just had 3/4 months off)

Wonder if these guys are going to get more injury prone like NFL Players and Thursday night football.

Older guy like Lebron will probably be resting even more next year with the lack of rest between season.

Time for Rockets to dominate next season with all the young bucks with have, except for PJ! DOMINATE NEXT SEASON with our Young legs that don't need rest or we will look like jerks and waste a season!!

I foresee a crap-ton of injuries in 2021 for NBA players. Those guys are not going to get the appropriate amount of rest...something the offseason usually affords them.

people talking about injuries as if they didn't happen enough already during pre-covid days. so what were those reasons, too much rest? or is it injuries are and will always be part of the game. and that goes for every major league sport. these guys have gotten more rest than they ever have before. stop with the i see more injuries happening

8 teams now have all the way until december til they actually play a real NBA game on top of the last few months . After mid august 6, more teams will join them on top of the stoppage. add to that list every 1-2 weeks when a team goes down.

    I don't understand your reasoning.

It's not like players can accrue some sort of karma or health benefit that protects them from injury, from not playing for the past few months. The more you play in an NBA game environment, the chances of injury are higher.

From the proposed schedule in the tweet, there's less than 2 months between season end and next season's start, when there's usually more than 3-4 months of rest in between seasons, normally.

Schedule is rough for the teams that get bounced late from this year's playoffs, but definitely good for teams like Golden State.

So when Gordon Hayward literally snapped his foot on opening night less than a few minutes into the game that was from what. Why are you looking at it through the same exact time off lens as if they’ve been playing this entire time. The number of games they’re going to play is going to be less. The time off away from nba games is going to be dramatically higher. There’s never ever been a time where the nba could take a 4 month break to finish a season. you also take away the rigors of having to travel from city to city every other night that reduces natural fatigue. The max number of games any player is going to play at this point is a possible 35 games. It probably may not even reach that many games and the average team will play around 20-25. the 2 teams that reach the finals being closer to 30 games.

the schedule isn’t that rough at all. There’s also no reason if this was so outrageous that the players themselves would have approved. The rest era is just incredibly dramatic. Guys could literally not do anything for a year and people would still complain

Hayward's injury was from a freak landing. Don't think it would have mattered if he rested for 100 straight days or played for 100 straight games. To me, that's not a great example to try and prove your point.

I'm talking about the two month layoff from this proposed season's end (hypothetical game 7 of an NBA Finals) to game 1 of the next NBA regular season. The players that are going to play in Orlando are going to be more susceptible to injury than the players that don't, when the new season starts up.

The players want to play because they at least want to finish out the season, so that they didn't just play 50 some-odd games this year for no reason. The owners want the players to play because they want revenue.

This is their job. This is what players are paid to do. So of course no one is complaining about injury risks or whatever. But to roll your eyes and say that there wouldn't be a chance that more injuries wouldn't happen, just doesn't make sense. The more stress the human body is subjected to, the greater the risk of injury. Doesn't matter if you're a couch potato or a top-tier NBA athlete.

I thought they were doing the 1-16 seeding. This way that does keep it as normal as posible is a lot more palatable. I still expect shenanigans to get the Lakers and LeBron another championship. But I did overreact. Thanks for calling me out.

an injury happens at anytime. that's my point. obviously if you don't want to be injured, don't play then. but that's not what sports is.

there's no correlation of guys being more susceptible to some mysterious injury that's going to happen per cf's. That wouldn't already have the same chance of happening in a regular 82 games offseason. it's a silly theory.

you also take away the rigors of having to travel from city to city every other night that reduces natural fatigue. The max number of games any player is going to play at this point is a possible 35 games. It probably may not even reach that many games and the average team will play around 20-25 or less. 6 teams will play 8 games and that's it. the 2 teams that reach the finals being closer to 30 games. if you really think these guys can't handle a reduced number of games like this after 4 months off, then they're probably not in the right business
