This riot stemmed from the acquittal of the police officers that beat Arthur Mcduffie( black motorcyclist) to death.
I was relatively sure that black turnout was incredibly low following such riots historically in Detroit, watts, etc. but the 60’s were a different time (maybe?) I’ll look for an article. work kicking my ass. University is flipping out LOL.
A curfew has been put in place for Minneapolis and St. Paul tonight and tomorrow. Starts at 8PM and goes until 6AM. You can't even drive. $1,000 fine for violating curfew.
I worry for their health. COVID didn’t disappear even if we as a collective society gave up trying to mitigate it.
With these protests crowds, I am also concerned that, among other things, that more people will be infected with the coronavirus.
Reminds me of "In Living Color"'s "black" Dr. Seuss books, one of them titled, "Hop on Cop." I don't blame the burning anger at what happened in Minneapolis. What happened there makes me sick and has exposed more of the maggoty rot in our society. t I do wish scenes like this in Houston wouldn't occur. I like our mayor, I like our Chief of Police. This disrespects them. Now they have to tamp down whatever might occur here. It is easy for me to say these things---me: white, middle-aged, have gotten out of all but one speeding ticket in my life (out of about six or seven times pulled over). I just don't want anyone else getting hurt. Like the Charlottesville anti-protesters. No way I'd march against Trump's Brown Shirts. Let them make themselves look stupid; but that poor young lady (Heather Heyer) who got mowed down like a cat.....I don't blame her at all, just hate to see bad things happen to good people.
crazy story I just wish you hadnt of shanked rebenga are you a political prisoner from cuba that his f\ucking juman rights?
Yeah man, one of Brian De Palma’s best movies. I drove past those tent cities that housed the Marielitos everyday when I was in Miami.
The cop who put his knee on Floyd’s neck has been arrested for murder, right? If the point is to protest systemic abuse, it seems like a serious, peaceful protest would be far more effective. Rioting and looting just makes it easier for people to disregard the problem by focusing on the behavior of the rioters. I don’t see how anyone can look at the Floyd video and believe it was anything but murder. But those who react violently against innocents are taking away from that.
Atlanta's going bonkers. They're attacking the CNN building. Hell, CNN hates Trump and had one of their reporters arrested in Minnesota. If anything, they should be protecting that building not trying to destroy it.
How would this going on 6 months before an election hurt turnout in November? Although people may be ransacking grocery stores again by then because of a Great Depression.
I hope I’m wrong but I think there is going to be a bloodbath tonight. I was with a neighbor and he had the police scanner in about 10 minutes ago live feeds from people streaming from a large protest on South Minneapolis went dead. On the scanner the police were saying they were massing to come down Nicollet. Something big is happening
