Hire JVG and his brother SVG (as an assistant) and things will change real quickly. A professional coaching staff could do wonders for this team!!!

I can’t remember any championship teams which has shiit defense. It seems that Rockets want to prove they can win championship with shiit defense.

Yea at least he would get people to focus on defense and wouldn’t care if their emotions got hurt. I mean their egos

And let’s bring mark Jackson as an another assistant. That way we can take abc/ ESPN broadcasters

Not sure about SVG but yes to JVG. Hero ball with Harden/Russ + team defense >>> Hero ball with Harden/Russ (and no defense).

    Sam Amick:

"One thing to consider with Van Gundy: Mike D’Antoni is in the final year of his Houston deal and likely coaching his last season with the Rockets. Van Gundy, who coached the Rockets from 2003-07, is expected to draw serious interest for that job if it does open up. If the Nets want Van Gundy, they may have competition for his services if they wait too long."

Does Van Gundy still want to coach? I remember how stressed and exhausted he seemed when he was coaching here and he was 15 years younger. Maybe his style would be different this time.

I'll always respect Van Gundy. I remember when he (rightfully) went after the league and officials for cowing to Mark Cuban and changing the way they applied rules to Yao Ming midway through a playoff series. Then he was fined $100,000, which was the largest fine against a coach ever.

Would rather have a Rudy T or Phil Jackson type.

I would hire JVG as an assistant for Defense.

Doesn't matter, Covid-19 will drag out a search anyway.

You do not want to be his comeback experiment, guy hasn't coached for a decade.

And he wasn't elite at coaching.

Previous actions have shown that he would. He has also said he'd have to get someone to run the offense because the league isn't the same.

Isn't he making $10mil at ESPN? I cant see him coaching for much less and I cant see you-know-who paying that.

And he couldn't even run offense back then. ;)

I love JVG but I think he'd lose Harden pretty quickly.

His offenses were bad, definitely... that inevitable scoring drought - every.single.game - but he seems like the type of coach that has an open mind. I could see him changing his approach to offense. Everyone else in the league has. Including D'Antoni. Why not JVG?

You also have to remember, JVG's last season, the 3rd best offensive player on the team was... Luther Head? Maybe Rafer? Adelman was blessed with Landry, Scola, Bobby Jackson.

MDA is doing good in the regular season with a top tier defensive asst coach. He will be underachieved a lot come playoffs time. Repeat and repeat.

JVG is a much better coach than MDA.

Yes, something I often remind fans of when they hate on either TMac or Yao too hard. There was a game during that series where only 4 players scored. It still beggars belief.

God speed to the United States and nba!

It's a close race between the two with jvg having slight edge and the tie breaker goes to Rudy tomjanovich!

Morey still hope MDA to win the championship this season.

I feel hopeless to win the west because MDA can’t fix switch defense and rebounding issues after 3 pointers don’t fall.
