I know. Not going to Vegas anytime soon. She even saying that it is not her job to make sure the businesses are being safe in preventing the spread.
The issue with opening it up. Is in Vegas theres a lot of poor low income workers there. Keeping Vegas running so you can throw money away at casinos and strip clubs. Those people will have no option than to go back to work. I'm not sure how strip clubs and social distancing will work.
Not familiar with Vegas politics but I imagine to become mayor of Las Vegas, you basically have to essentially do whatever it is that the people who own the casinos tell you to do.
I’m not surprised by her position. Not saying I agree with it, but I get it. I can’t think of a large city that has a larger percentage of its workforce currently sitting at home than Vegas. Many of these workers are fairly low paid and I’m sure they want to get back to work. Furthermore, the large Gaming companies want the ability to open up when they feel they are ready. So, the mayor is doing what politicians do. She’s saying what most people in Vegas want to hear. But, it’s the Governor that shut things down. So, the Governor is the one that will open things up. I do feel bad for the workers out there. They need to work. But, when they do go back to work they are going to be in an environment that puts them at risk.

you think the demand now today is such that las vegas would be profitable / viable? It is my opinion that no one will go until at least 4th of july ( or coast is clear) and unless we wait until the initial statistical time frame of june this could re trigger the spread AND lengthen the stall of demand. Im at the part where let them all kill themselves. I wont be going. I generally only see/interact with republicans at sex parties.. not going to those either.. mind you they are still happening.

It's why we are supposed to have an effective federal program covering people who can't work. Surprise surprise, 1200 will only keep someone's head above water for like 2 weeks to a month at max. Unemployment has been a mess. Our people must eat ****. It's the American motto.
Why do they need to go back to work? Most of are likely making nearly double through unemployment. They'll be financially the best off if Vegas can somehow stay closed for 3-4 months, let things really calm down, and then take off.
