    Wow,
that's not much at all for all those years and endorsements.
China probably taxed the daylights out of him.
Les milked Yao like a cow to finally make Les a billionaire.

I have to say this , but some of you idiots thought he could buy the Rockets.
Nah bro, he was Rockets player under the Les regime, he can't afford to buy a WNBA team.

    https://www.sportscasting.com/what-happened-to-former-nba-star-yao-ming/

The 39-year-old helped launch the NBA Yao Basketball Club in 2014 that works in conjunction with the NBA. In February 2017, Ming took another significant step forward as the Chinese Basketball Association had a unanimous vote to appoint him as their president.

He has operated from that position over the last few years as he has helped further expand the reach of the CBA. Before taking that position, Ming had owned the Shanghai team since 2009 before selling his entire shareholder before the 2017-18 season.

Ming has a reported net worth of $120 million that largely stems from his contract earnings from the NBA along with his various endorsement deals.

His net worth is whatever his President for life allows him to have.

Imagine - - Yao getting a max contract at today's $s and/or Yao being as $$$ motivated as his peers and/or Yao living in The States and/or and/or ... $120 mil ain't chump change and likely a LARGE % of his NBA peers' net worths are not 7 digits and perhaps not 6, either. He has done wellfor himself, and others.

Yao is the athlete who has earned the most respect from me and the single highest regard. The man is a man.

I'm pretty skeptical of that number given that Yaos fame in China. Hes not sports famous in China the way one imagine a LeBron in the US. Everyone knows who he is even if they never watched a single nba game.

Its possible that he isnt maximizing his earnings since hes never been a self-marketer. And I think the CBA is still kinda in the red in terms of profitability. But in terms of just his name recognition and what he could earn if he wanted. should be worth at least 5 times that.

Your task is to (without googling) guess which former NBA player has the second highest net worth.

Jordan is first with around 1.5 billion and Magic is 3rd with $600 million.

Hint... it is not Kobe, LeBron or Shaq

    Jamal Mashburn?

    Junior Bridgeman?

I know years ago both were doing extremely well.

I'm still mad at Yao for turning against Daryl Morey. I understand he had no choice, but...

Yao is a cow that got milked by China and Les Alexander
He’s not the type who would ask for what he’s really worth
Remember Tmac was making more than him
But we all know Les milked more from Yao

I'll let this go for another couple of hours and then reveal the answer (although I assume those who guess will go google once they have answered).

Incidentally, Yao and his $120,000,000 is 20th.

Isn't there some old NBA player who helped Wendy's grow or invested in them or something? I remember reading about him while back and was surprised. I can't remember his name

I'm gonna guess Grant Hill. He played a lot of years and was a pretty smart guy.

(now I'm going to go Google it)
