What and SWTSig thank y'all again for sharing your stories. I've heard similar stories from others who are suffering with this. The telltale sign is the loss of taste and smell what really sets this aside from the flu. Also it does seem to come in waves with people seeming to get better and then getting worse.

It's unnerving for sure. I was at a bachelor's party in NOLA the weekend of March 7th, and a few of us had mild fevers and flu like symptoms for a few weeks. None of us had a test though. My sister also was pretty sick after a flight from SF - she had it worse with sever chest tightness and fever and cough - dr told her it was seasonal allergies!

It's definitely scary. I took a bunch of natural anti-viral and immune booasting supplements. Things like liquorish root, certain kinds of vitamin E, vitamin D, etc. Does it help? I have no idea.

Good luck to everyone who catches this. Be safe and be careful.

probably the kind of doctor whose hands are tied by the facts that he can’t just order up a test for The “rona” like he can for the flu, and he can’t get the patient admitted unless she’s near death. Crappy situation all around.

I would highly recommend a strong vitamin D regiment. I am 100% not a doctor or clinical researcher but I follow a few on social media and very recent studies show that vitamin D cAn significantly reduced the effects of respiratory illness. I believe Dr. Rhonda Patrick posted something about it last week of the week before.

I take 10,000-20,000 iu’s a day in addition to vitamin C, K, potassium, B complex and reishi mushroom supplement. It’s strictly anecdotal but I’ve also found zinc to work well in mitigated illness if taken at its onset.

It was an urgent care center as she could not get an appointment with her regular dr who was overwhelmed. I just don't think doctors had good information on testing and how to handle this. She was told it was impossible for her to have covid-19 as she wasn't in China or Italy. Mind you this was 2 weeks ago.

    Fortunately she is better.

Yes, 20,000 iu is about five times what my doctor (a noted MD and integrative medicine specialist) instructed I take temporarily for my low vitamin D levels. Immune boosters like vitamin C could also fuel a cytokine storm in advanced cases. (I plan to discontinue both if I get this and my symptoms worsen. This is provided I can't get in touch with a doctor for some reason.)

Small update: today my sister says she feels like herself for the first time!!!!! That is huge news. Today would be her 11th day.
My mom though still feels bad, but it is her coughing mostly; however my mom wants to get the cat scan anyway to make sure there is no pneumonia. She is scheduled for college station tomorrow. Today is her 9th day.
I am hoping, based on my sister's experience, which she felt even as early as yesterday that she might have pneumonia, too but stuck it out, and the fact that the respiratory doctor told her that her lungs sound fine, that my mom will come out of this with a clean cat scan and then she can rest easier.
My mom is a worrier so we are going to let her do this and just hope for the best.

I get it every now and then. Been going on for the past 20 years. Usually a couple of claritin d and I'm back to normal. There have been times I had to go to my doctor and get a z-pack. It usually happens this time of year when the trees start greening out.
