TO DO or NOT TO DOO. That is a shitty question. Which is why it goes down as one of greatest edits made by Shakespeare's editor Nicholas Rowe. That's one to grow on.

Hope really hard that one of them doesn't get hurt, traded, demoted, arrested for pedophilia, etc.

...or you could trade with Fade, since his roster has more holes in it then the average cheese grater....

I’m not too worried about it.

Closers are a dime a dozen. I’ll make it work.

Bare bones approach can work, no doubt, but takes a bit of luck. I had inadequate backups last year and when Vazquez got arrested, was forced to scramble and get cute with plugging RP-eligible SPs like Dakota Hudson into the lineup. It was not enjoyable so I'm overcompensating a bit this year as a result.

Personally, I am more interested in Sam's "two RP; one team" approach, a.k.a. "two girls; one cup, fantasy baseball style." :p

What I don't understand is the fact that so many people are leaving roster holes in the OF or wherever to pick up their 4th RP. That said, y'all have forced my hand to pick up the last one in this tier.

I'm in the Flash/Rook camp of relievers are dime a dozen. My bet is that Martinez comes back and starts this year, which is what he wants to do, and is good enough to outproduce other relief pitchers as a SPARP. And then Gallegos is a closer with real upside.

Agree with my boy Sam, though not going to fall to pressure like him and draft another RP, those guys are dime a dozen and more than half can't keep their role all year - so too big of a gamble for me. I'll do the Sam RPASP way if I have to, so you guys keep drafting them....

I mean I took Carlos Martinez and stuck with him throughout the year. Didn’t know he’d become one of my top closing options outside of Hader, but he was great throughout the playoffs.

If I recall correctly you had Jordan Hicks from the mid rounds of the draft, who underwent Tommy John by the end of the first month. Shows how lucky and unlucky the closer game can really be.

I’ll take my chances with Mark Melancon - RP and Miguel Sano - 3B

    Back to you @SamCassell

We've been doing this league for years and yet we learn lessons every season. I went RP heavy last year with Chapman and Kimbrel in the early rounds, thinking there was less stress with "sure thing" relievers. Kimbrel was garbage all year and Chapman was great... until the fantasy playoffs when the Yanks were managing his innings so he'd be fresh for the actual playoffs. Liam Hendricks, who I picked up midway thru the season for free, was much better at that point. It really is a crapshoot.

Back to the SP well, I'm going with Jake Odorizzi.

What is interesting (and sometimes frustrating) is that the lessons you learn one year may not even apply to the next, as every season can be very different. There have been years I was in the minimalist RP camp also. All we can do is cross our fingers and hope whatever strategy we go with works.
