It's only meat. I'd rather they continue eat cats and dogs than drive the demand for Brazilian beef. The burning and clearing of the Amazon for cattle is the greatest ecological disaster happening right now which we're letting happen.

    Ok, two things:

    1. Eating 'only meat' is how we came up with the Coronavirus in the first place.
    2. Nice band-aid. How about stop eating meat completely if you're really environmentally conscious? You're partially right about beef, but 80% of farming is dedicated to feeding livestock. If people completely stopped eating meat, we would cut our farming needs in half.

What makes it so wrong to eat cats and dogs but morally acceptable to decimate our planet's environment by eating pigs, birds and cattle? Every time I see posts like this there's always a hint of racism sprinkled in there.

A lot of Asians laugh at Americans when we call them out for eating cats and dogs because we are guilty of the exact same thing. Rabbits meat, horse meat, cow meat, pig meat, bird meat, lamb meat, bison meat... at what point do we look in the mirror and call ourselves "****ing idiots" for decimating the environment, destroying the rainforests and completely destabilizing the eco-systems of our oceans all because of our selfish desires to eat meats that DON'T need to be eaten?

Nice to see I guess, long overdue obviously. But the virus didn't even come from cats and dogs, so not sure how this is an appropriate response to the current pandemic. Maybe wet markets with exotic animals should be banned?

Only 50,000 global deaths for China to take baby steps towards being human.

    Unfortunately,

This is purely symbolic, nothing is really changing from a "human civilization" perspective or "stop new viruses" perspective --

Two groups of coronaviruses related to the virus behind the human pandemic have been identified in Malayan pangolins smuggled into China, said lead researcher Dr Tommy Lam of The University of Hong Kong.

"Although their role as the intermediate host of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak remains to be confirmed, sale of these wild animals in wet markets should be strictly prohibited to avoid future zoonotic [animal to human] transmission," he told BBC News.

Bats also contain coronaviruses, which are closer still to the human virus, except in one key area - the part that helps the virus invade cells.

"This tells us that viruses that look pretty adapted to humans are present in wildlife," said co-researcher, Prof Edward Holmes of the University of Sydney. "Bats are certainly involved, pangolins may be, but it is very possible that other animal species are involved as well."

Conservationists say it would be devastating if the discovery led to further persecution of the endangered mammal. The animal's scales are in high demand for use in traditional Chinese medicine, while pangolin meat is considered a delicacy.

    ---

Chinese "medicine" will continue the abuse... virus strains will continue to mutate ... but atleast a few million dogs and cats won't be eaten.

Well this is America. Those of them eating that **** over there can ****in rott. It's because of them that I'm sitting at home jobless and worried about catching some ****ed up disease.

America didnt start a global pandemic by eating chicken or pork. They did. So you can kiss my fn ass if you think eating dog is just as normal as eating a chicken.

I think you're looking for another word. Cattle, chickens, sheep, goats, and pigs are domesticated, too. Hell, so are camels.

Americans certainly have pet chickens. They also have pet rabbits, pigs, and cows. This is not uncommon in the mid-west. Large swaths of Indians don't eat cows like Americans do, so does that make us "****ing idiots"? Just because you are conditioned to like cats and dogs more than the farmed animals we eat in America doesn't make it any more ridiculous to eat them over any other animal. And by the way, every animal I listed is domesticated.

35,000 Americans die every year from superbugs that are resistant to all forms of antibiotics. The bacteria is found in meat that comes from animals pumped with drugs due to the putrid conditions they live in. If you think Covid-19 is bad, wait until a superbug comes around that is contagious enough to kill millions of people around the world. It's coming one day, and it can most certainly originate in American farms because racist people like you are too blinded by your hate for other groups of people despite being guilty of the exact thing you criticize them for. That's the American way, though.

You can make any excuse you want in your freaky little head. America did not start a pandemic. China did. I don't know what you are whining about me being a racist. I am referring to the commie govt and the freaks who can't stop eating bats and pangolins and whatever else they ****in eat there. You can hate on American all you want bud, but we did start a ****ed up disease that has brought the whole world to its knees.

And if any Americans, Indians, Jamaicans or whoever else is eating dogs and cats and bats, etc...they are freaks too. The difference is the government does not support and condone these actions. Only that **** hole of a country that is China.

    China again tho

Superbug Resistant to Last-Resort Antibiotic Arises in China

If you think animals live in poor conditions here in the USA, I have some bad news for you lol. Don't look into how they skin rabbits and cows alive.

It doesn't matter really, the thing to kill millions around the world is a virus. It's been said and prognosticated time and time again.
