That post is spot on. This was something our govt should have been watching for and being ready to take action on.
This is probably the most Presidential that I have seen from Trump. But ... We need to separate the words from the deeds. If Trump was ordering the stock pile of ventilators and PPE in January, while downplaying the seriousness of CV in public, we could actually believe that Trump was taking CV serious from the start. Trump did not, so we can not believe him now.
Instead, he attended a number of re-election campaign rallies, played golf a number of times, and used every opportunity to downplay the seriousness of the crisis. And, attacked the media for reporting on it and anyone else that questioned his actions.
A Trump official called Thailand last week asking for PPE to be sent to the U.S. only to be told by Thai officials we’d just sent them the same supplies. The episode prompted a review process that’s now holding up aid in some cases Pence task force freezes coronavirus aid amid backlash The review came after officials discovered that aid to foreign countries wasn't being coordinated with U.S. requests. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/31/pence-task-force-coronavirus-aid-157806
At a time when so many Americans are faced with the prospects of devastating health care costs and will likely discourage many others from seeking care... trump and his admin show an pettiness and spitefulness that is truly reprehensible... Trump rejects Obamacare special enrollment period amid pandemic President Donald Trump and administration officials recently said they were considering relaunching HealthCare.gov. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/31/trump-obamacare-coronavirus-157788
As trump now claims he knew it all at the start... here's the NYT from February 28. Trump Accuses Media and Democrats of Exaggerating Coronavirus Threat The accusations came as other elements of the federal government moved to head off a broader wave of infections like those in China. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/28/us/politics/trump-accuses-media-democrats-coronavirus.html
It's great news that he is finally taking it seriously, let's hope it translates into deeds from now on. I no longer care if he needs a fake reconstruction of the past to live with himself.
Question to all the Trump defenders on his response - do you think it's his best effort to be doing daily press conferences every day and spending so much time on twitter complaining vs trying to figure out what to do with this supply mess as well as the uninsured?
I suppose the whole discussion about whether Trump completely f’ed up the first month or so would die out if there weren’t people who claim that Trump has been on point the whole time and it’s just Dems or partisan attacks trying to make him look bad. Of if trump would admit he screwed the pooch for a month. But since that’s not happening anytime soon, trump and his supporters will hear about it. Shouldn’t bother you since you’re not a trump supporter tho.
I agree with this part of the article. There's no point in rushing this right now: But the formation of any commission, or possible congressional investigations, wouldn't happen until after the country is through the crisis, the people familiar with the discussions said. Some lawmakers have suggested putting off any investigation until after November's presidential election, they said.
Unmasking a farce: Pence's coronavirus taskforce suspends medical aid to foreign countries after asking Thailand to send masks and gowns and being told USAID was sending them TO Bangkok Vice President Mike Pence's coronavirus taskforce is looking at the process USAID is using to send medical supplies abroad The taskforce has place a moratorium on any new shipments of medical supplies from USAID's stockpile The review comes after American officials went looking for medical equipment from Thailand only to be told the U.S. was shipping product to Bangkok Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...nds-overseas-shipments-medical-equipment.html Hope for the best and expect the worst...
So we're back on to the war on drugs? This is the bullshit people are talking about. What the hell is that gonna do to stop the spread of COVID-19?
