You don't get unemployment benefits if you just suspend them. It's better to lay them off and rehire them when things go back to normal. My BIL is a restaurant manager. The restaurant owner discussed giving him reduced pay and hours. The unemployment made more sense for everyone involved.

    1. This isn't ending April 31st.
    2. The biggest idiots about not practicing social distancing/quarantining as needed will either be dead or immune.
    3. People will have learned to wash their hands.
    4. Some businesses will learn that having offices fully staffed is less profitable than having workers telework.
    5. Regarding this wave, we'll run out of people susceptible to COVID-19 well before a year if social distancing/quarantines don't work or aren't maintained. Not sure much is known on whether this becomes a seasonal thing with immunity from virus being only temporary or virus mutates.

Makes sense. But in this particular situation a 'suspension' should be eligible for unemployment.

This is a message to younger people posted by one of my former Judo students who is now a doctor:
I am am a medical doctor working in trauma surgery and am certified in prehospital emergency medicine. If you're young, healthy and fit, you NEED to read this: Let's ASSUME you're right, you don't need to worry about CoVid19, only the old and the sick can get severely ill and die... You know what can happen to young, healthy people? Car accidents, catastrophic falls, gun shot wounds, stabbings, appendicitis, pneumothorax (one of your lungs spontaneously leaks air out) to name just some things that can kill you. Take a moment and think who is going to care for you when every ambulance in your area is either transporting CoVid patients or going through the lengthy process of disinfecting the ambulance. Go one step further: What resources are left to treat you in the hospital? There might not be a respirator left to put you on, the surgeon might be helping out in the ICU or the ER and a bunch of the staff might be sick themselves. Now please tell me again how letting this thing run freely and sacrifice the old, weak ones for the economy is a great idea! If you want to be selfish, at least be selfish and smart: realise that this can affect you just as much as it can your parents and grand parents (I am not even mentioning all the young diabetics and COPD patients...)

Great message. People are stuck that this is a black and white world where making decisions are easy with only one or two variables as a risk, when it is anything but that. So many variables to consider.

Its terrible that we’re this far into this pandemic and people are still needing to be lectured on the most basic things. Does it really take someone actually dying close to them to finally understand what’s going on in the world. Smh

CNN, Foxnews, Bloomberg, and CNBC all regularly flash TOTAL CASES AND TOTAL DEATHS. Its not a valid statistic for telling you anything.

The five minute test is an antibody test, which checks whether one's immune system has generated antibodies to fight for the virus. IgM antibodies are normally generated around 7 days after a person contracts the virus while IgG antibodies take 10 days. Therefore this test cannot replace a PCR test -- which look for the virus itself -- and be widely used to find infected people in the early stage.

    Absurdly FALSE

Aside from CNN, who constantly reiterates the numbers by keeping them on the screen, no other network posts the numbers once every few minutes.

That's a FACT. Why are you speaking the contrary??

BUT, even if ALL (or majority) of networks did constantly posts said numbers, one should consider it motivation for people to do the correct thing (stay-home, socially distance).

This situation is serious. We have no sports, People are losing their jobs. You can't even go to a bar and have a drink.

I still don't understand why you're so bothered about this.

You can easily extrapolate value from any of these numbers. Even if it's a "somebody's lying" theory (CHINA).

You could tell the same thing in February.

It was a tradition to cover up things so that potential riots could be nipped in the bud.

Then the White House should disclose the real numbers.... and stop holding back info.

Of course they did. The CCP is disgusting, deceitful and doesn’t care about death of human suffering. They are the most vile government on the planet.

I still cannot believe Boris Johnson thought they were trust worthy. How incredibly naive.

Boris Johnson's political demise is nigh, and he has himself, his inactions until it was too late to thank for it.

Questionable leading figure trying to find a distant scapegoat.

I do hope he recovers from Covid 19, that said.
