this would be pretty cool if they framed it the same way as the all star game. Also, how the hell is the NBA coming by all the tests when most states are only able to get a couple hundred a day?
Can't imagine at which point of this suspension a exhibition game is gonna be realistic to take shape based on a multiple parties' consensus…i guess some players may feel reluctant to join this kind of event unless the virus pandemic completely close to an end in near future. (Jeff Green's concerns about his family is typical especially now）
100% echo Jeff Green's sentiments here. Nobody gives a damn about NBA basketball right now except Silver and his bosses (owners). I get it. A charity game, assuming it generates millions in revenue, sounds like a thoughtful gesture. However, the hundreds of TV network organizers, commercial sponsors, and event staff it would take to put on such an exhibition would, frankly, undermine the public health mandates -- i.e. shelter in place -- being put into effect around the world. Also, it's very likely the arena would be devoid of any type of real 'game time' atmosphere as the seats would most assuredly be empty (there's a TC joke in there somewhere). Who the hell wants to watch that? Why don't the owners and league office simply make an in-kind donation to local hospitals for $100 million dollars worth of medical supplies and respiratory equipment? That's a tax-deductible gift of roughly $3.1MM per team owner. Mere pocket change. (there's also a joke in there about Fertitta insisting Silver take a portion of the MLE to cover his $3M ante) TL;DR: just stop... now is not the time to get cute and force 'good deeds' onto the players and event organizers... just cut a fat check and move on.
