Thought I'd bump this since Oil is parked at $20 a barrel.

Grabbing a temp job at Amazon or another delivery service can help you extend your safe period until you can find something permanent again.

I know HEB is hiring. Overnight stockers get at least $15/hour I think. Ain't great but it's income. I suspect others like Costco could be hiring as well.

Yep. I’m preparing for this. Might be landing a large new account that will save me, hopefully I can get ink on the contract sooner rather than later.

Good luck with your account - this **** is wild.

Had to close our business this week, but currently still have to work (on no income) to try to save it by applying for SBA disaster loans and working with landlords and lenders to defer payments.

But just landed a job on the weekends (but in Dallas) for Amazon Warehouse working overnight. This will help pay the bills, but making that commute to Dallas to Houston every week is going to be tough.

For those that need a job, I tried looking for an HEB job in Houston, but couldn't find a temporary one in Houston. All the temporary ones were in Corpus Christi or the border area. I'm going to keep looking for Houston jobs (overnight and/or weekends) and will keep y'all posted. Cheers.

Not layed off, but was asked to take a temporary pay cut. Could be worse I suppose.

I've never had to file for unemployment. How long does it take (I filed Wednesday) ?

I believe there is something the Gov. did to make it faster than normal.

Looks like the company laid off 1/3rd of sales. Looks like I’m good for now but my closest friend at the company was let go.

    this sucks

I'm not sure what it is like now but when it happened to me, I recall making the mistake of not filing asap as it takes 2-3 weeks or more to process your application. This was like 5 years ago, and I found a job like 5-6 weeks after getting laid off so I ended up getting nothing during that period cuz I didn't apply right away.

Sometimes it pays to procrastinate. In this sort of 'disaster' FEMA will step in with $ for the procrastinators, like they do with people who take their time filing insurance and end up waiting for their payout.

Might not matter to you, but I'll say it anyway...I'm praying for you guys in this. I know it's all upsetting and leaves us all feeling insecure. Over the years I've made good friends from people on this website who I've gotten to know in real life...and others who I consider friends when I see your names here...I wish you guys well, and I'm praying for you.
