He could have guest starred in Westworld.

He has too many championships that he has taken it for granted.

A competent team absolutely explores the idea of trading Hopkins as a means to improve the team - which could mean via personnel acquisition, draft capital and/or cap relief. (Frankly, he's good/valuable enough to cover all 3.) All reasonable.

But to trade Deandre Hopkins and his $40MM for David Johnson + Randall Cobb and their $47.1MM and only have a single 2nd round pick to show for it is organizational malpractice and a fireable offense.

i mean this depends on who you ask. are you just another player who needs elite players to carry you or are you that someone that is doing the carrying. this isn't exactly the best case for what you're trying to say.

Would you rather be Deshaun Watson or Robert Horry. ummm I'd say a whole lot of people would love to be Watson without a doubt

this!!! I would have been pissed If we did this deal and they covered most of if not all of DJs salary knowing we could have got more...

To eat that much salary and not get multiple 1sts in this deal is absolutely nauseating

we didn’t even need another rb duke and Hyde we’re fine.

it’s dumb from any possible angle you look
    At it

Still staggering that O'Brien's ego is so in the way of this team winning.

The better analogy would be would you rather be Charles Barkley or Robert Horry.

Honestly, with everything Barkley has done on the court, I would probably still want the rings that Horry has. I would be willing to bet any amount on the fact that Barkley would trade any record he currently holds to even get a shot at one of Horry's rings.

horry might have some rings but looking at barkley's career resume and accolades compared to 0 on horry's, that definitely can't be overlooked. the simple rings aspect is easy for those that aren't actually in their shoes

There are countless guys that have rings that didn't really earn them. no way are alpha guys like Barkley thinking they would trade places with them

Some?... SEVEN.... Seven rings..... seven freakin rings is nothing to scoff at.

Barkley goes back and forth on TNT with Kenny and Shaq on any matter... the easiest and most often used trump card they have is, "and how many rings do you have Chuck?"..... all those accolades for what, to be second best even to the likes of Kenny Smith on a television program. Again, this happens more often than not within their discussions and for good reason.

Obviously Kenny Smith is nowhere near the level of Charles Barkley when it comes to being an NBA player, but even their peers judge not by the measure of their stats but the hardware in their homes, that confirms they are the best of the best at one point in their careers.

and? TNT is pure entertainment. that's what their supposed to do. nobody but Shaq says that because he can. you'll never hear horry go up to someone like barkley and try to pull that card. that would be a joke

Yes it's part of the entertainment but that sh** hits home for Charles. Everyone can see that, even Ernie.

You can act like rings aren't the end all be all... but when you're comparing the greats of any sport we always look at how many championships they won in their careers. Whether its us fans, schmucks on TV, or the players and coaches themselves. Winners are winners, you can never take that for granted. No matter the sport.

not really. Barkley lives life and loves it. Ain't no alpha level player out there looking at guys that aren't on their level wishing they were them

Horry isn't an all time great and you never hear him being talked about as one, so the part of comparing greats doesn't really apply here

Lol at Todd Gurley, a younger, better, RB being on the trading block.

Maybe if BOB was so desperate to trade Hopkins for a RB he could have shopped around more? Dumbass.

I believe Hopkins is the best player the Texans has on offense and is a Hall of Famer if he remains healthy. I obviously don’t mind the Texans discussing him with other teams but it is odd with the mandate to win now. Regardless the trade was horrendous and especially when you lump it together with all the trades made the last year. In the aggregate it is mind blowing.... look at the Clowney, Johnson, Tunsil and Hopkins deals combined and it really gets ugly.

only hope is for David Johnson to fail his physical, and if thats the case- i wouldn't take anything less than a 1 or PPAT included..
if not you walk out of the deal and find a better one..

I never said he wished he was Horry, I said he would love to have the opportunity to even have a chance at a ring.

It doesn't matter what Horry is or isn't... the thing that matters is that you are measured by the hardware you keep in your home. Horry made a career out of being a clutch NBA player and winning rings because of his skill. He was no scrub wherever he landed (HOU, LAL, SAS).

I'm obviously not comparing the two players, this is incomparable, but the amount of what Horry gained on the court can't be brushed aside as if he were some Steve Kerr, riding the coat-tails of MJ and Pippen.

He was a legit champion and Barkley would love nothing more than do be on that level. Hell as great as Harden is offensively, he will never measure up unless he wins a ring. He'll just be another Barkley.
