A few hours and I'm angrier now.

I hope they have a press conference and I hope the local media holds Bill accountable to explain how this trade makes the team better.

It's been time for the media to hold his feet to the fire for his decisions.

Was De'Andre Hopkins to blame here? Do we know if he was planning on holding out, thereby weakening our negotiating position? Has this been discussed as a possibility? If so, then D-Hop desires a lot of our ire.

Kurt Warner was on SR610 a little while back and suggested an interesting possible rationale for the trade:
Let me preface this by saying that Warner thought it was as confounding of a trade as we all find it, and that he thinks a reliable receiver of Hopkins’ caliber is a young QB’s best asset.

That being said, he did offer up an intriguing theory. Basically, he said that since Watson’s been here, he’s always had Hopkins to lean on, and it could be holding back his development. Since Hopkins is always seen to be at an advantage in one-on-one matchups, Watson would never bother looking anywhere else when they had such a matchup, and it would often keep him from going through progressions, possibly to find something better. By removing Hopkins from the equation, it could force Watson to take steps forward that he simply didn’t need to make when Hopkins was there. Like when you have training wheels on your bike, you never really have to learn how to balance and all that because you can always just let the wheels keep you upright, but when you remove them, you’re forced to learn how to actually ride a bike for real. There will probably be a few spills along the way, but you’ll be much better in the end.

It’s a stretch to be certain, and it definitely doesn’t justify the pathetic haul, but it could at least provide us a window into how O’Brien rationalized making such a trade and sold it to Cal.

I also think as D-Hop gets older, his ability to create separation will decrease. Even if so, he might morph into the league's best possession receiver, which still is a valuable asset. I have to wonder if D-Hop Duane Brown'd us... and hamstrung our ability to make a fair trade by threatening to hold out.

Under contract for 3 more years. If he wants to hold out and sit out, let him. You don't give him away.
You don't want to pay Jadeveon, fine, but don't give him away and pay half his salary for his new team.

    Agree 100%

So we have now traded away 3 First round draft selections? Do I have that correct? Is that a record within the window we are in!??

BoB taking one for America: providing incredible amount of distraction and entertainment when we most need it.

    This is amazing.

Got better as a football team today Brian. It's always about the best interest of the team. Excited about David and the picks we acquired.

David Johnson? Never heard of the guy.

Seriously, I’ve never heard of him.

I don’t really follow Cardinal football. Why would I?
