I keep saying this. Trump is DONE. We are headed for a global depression. He should resign in exchange for pardons.

Honestly, I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise? I mean we're literally telling people not to spend and progressively finding stricter and stricter ways to not allow them to spend. Of course it's going to lead to a recession. I'd be shocked if we only had a million in job losses given that we're intentionally shutting down businesses left and right.

and at the end of the day that might be the right choice .

but , the economy was primed for a downturn before CV and the virus was just the push things needed to start toppling .

Yep...Trump was trying to get the Fed to lower interest rates to juice the economy until November to give him a shot of winning the election. The virus, however, doesn't care about what Trump, or any of us, wants.

In my industry, its going to be an absolute bloodbath. I work in aviation and this is unprecedented. 9/11 and the 2007 recession didn't come close to this. Large airlines are flat out cancelling 90+% of their flights. The cash flow crunch will hit airlines worldwide in weeks. Bailouts of some sort will be required and bankruptcies will be inevitable. This is going to be like the automotive industry collapse but worse since so many businesses and so much commerce is tied to aviation. And unlike the automotive industry, this crisis will be global. All airlines will be financially ruined by this.

I'm genuinely terrified for most people around me (myself included). This has been the scariest few days that I've ever been a part of as far as economic damage. I think we all thought we were ready for another downturn but no one thought of a scenario where global aviation would cease overnight for weeks if not months. That's enough to destroy a pretty significant portion of the industry (unless there are some serious bailouts).

If we can bailout auto industries, we can bail out citizens.

Trump should be removed from office immediately! The stock market should never be allowed to drop this fast.

The guy has bungled this whole thing from the start. Today is the first time I've seen him genuinely taking this thing seriously. I guess since you can't really defend him weak sarcasm is the best you can do.

This is probably the greatest emergency this country has faced since the great depression.

Clear leadership and action must be taken now to prevent the worst. The biggest thing is the gov't must step in and ensure that everyone is able to survive while we go through what is increasing looking like a global economic depression.

Kudlow used to make the same insane Baghdad Bob style stock market pronouncements when he was a TV host. It 2008 in the middle of the crash he was telling everybody that fundamentals were great and they should go all in. He's always been completely untrustworthy on the markets.

Honestly, his bungling of this probably didn't change a whole lot - ultimately we'd have ended up in the same place. He was late, he showed poor leadership, and yes people will die because of that. But the lockdown was going to happen one way or another, and the stock market was going to crash because of it.

If the S&P dips below 2,000 I might start buying.
