Most of the infections brought in are from citizens which the travel ban didn't apply to. More effective would have been to test anyone before getting on the plane and then quarantine and test again when they land.
Yea, I'm gonna go off of our current deaths to predict the entire country has around 10k infected currently, or at least that's what it would be if we had comparable testing to other countries right now., by the time we start doing mass testing (if ever) that number will obviously have become much higher.
Come on TJ, even the dip$hit-in-chief understands that the only reason we have less "countable" infections is that we haven't done any testing to establish a reliable list. TELLING
Woh, that’s nut to run such a high stake live experiment. Every countries then need to completely shut their borders to UK. What if it’s like the other coronavirus, the common cold, where there is no herd immunity...
At the beginning? Wasn't Lou Dobbs still saying it was a hoax on Friday? Fox put Trish Regan on hiatus after she spend her show on Monday(?) to call the virus a hoax cooked up by the media to impeach the president. Rush Limbaugh this week was ranting about how this isn't nearly as bad as the Swine Flu (lol) and that no one cared about that because of Obama.
Worth repeating, Boris Johnson seems to have unilaterally adopted the "let's let everyone get sick at once maybe that'll work" plan that, uh, has killed thousands so far. https://www.thedailybeast.com/boris...in-into-a-petri-dish-for-coronavirus?ref=home What the actual ****. When the queen catches it and dies they may chop his head off at the tower of London.
I would never thought I would say this but thank God Trump finally listening to people around him. I can't change what happened in the past but hopefully by this time next week we have a full grasp on what we are facing and can start stifling presumed numbers. I honestly hate everything about his reaction to downplaying this but that really does nothing when it comes to the lives of millions. Hopefully they can take action. Hopefully the UK has smarter people around Boris.
Now that Congress has passed funding for testing with Senate approval coming up next week, I expect a sharp rise in cases. Keep in mind hospitals don't have many test kits and the incentives for testing a low given the lack of reimbursement. But once this bill goes into effect, every hospital and urgent care will want a hand in the moneypot.
You and I are on the same mindset there. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out. Why can't government leaders around the world make smarter decisions?
It's not easy - 10,000 people a day come in from China into the US alone. But at the very least ban most travelers and quarantine the rest. The other issue was that by the time the ban is put into place, 100's of thousands of people have already come into the country from China. In other words, the disease came here before the travel ban anyway. Honestly the only way this could have been stopped was if the Chinese gov't immediately notified the world what was going on. But it took months. They really screwed up and owe the world an apology. Not for the virus itself - this thing can happen anywhere but it does seem that China is a particularly bad breeding ground and they need to address this in the way they process live animals.
