OP basically asking when will we stop putting profit over social responsibility. Asking a really fundamental question and at the same time also villainising one country. The answer is you will get change when you yourself change.

Pretty soon you will have all the datapoints to compare Chinese competency, European competency and American competency.

Try to stay alive till then. Good luck.

I’m 200lbs and yoked up, living in the best part of Puget Sound, but if I was 300lbs and living in a trailer park, I’d made sure that trailer was made right here in America and not by you dirty ChiCom bastards.

The Chinese did not take the virus seriously enough at first, but has since then mobolized all the resource possible to save people's lives. Check out this short documentary on what Wuhan has been through.

There are now pretty much no new cases outside of the Hubei province.

In all honesty EU and US have a fraction of China's competence, with all these time to prepare, things would've been fine but the result has been very disappointing so far. Things are getting worse everyday. Can you imagine what the numbers would be like 2 weeks from now?

This is a time people around the world can forget about our differences for.a sec, share resources, help each other, stay strong and fight this war together regardless of boarders. And hopefully after this event, people can have some more compassion for one another.

If you think the US and EU have a fraction of "China's competence" you really are lost. You commies are sitting on over 80k sick and 3k+ DEAD...many of them could have probably been prevented if your righteous govt would have given even half a crap about you(which of course, they don't). But since you think mother china is the end all be all of ways to live you'll keep drinking that infected level-4 green tea and think all is well with your country and the US is way behind on your months and months of stalling before taking action. It's been what? 4-5 months since this thing has been in your country and you STILL haven't been able to take care of it? Good lord, I'm sure Les will be rolling over in his grave years from now if he knew what kind of crap Yao Ming would bring over with him to the US.

So this thread started out civil, and has pretty much gone insane! Here's my perspective again from inside China. The Chinese gov doesn't need apologists. Yes, things are definitely getting better, work is resuming and all that, but it wouldn't have gotten to this point in the first place if proper measures were taken instead of people trying to hide **** and save face. This is a FACT. So to act like there's some miracle happening in the far east, no, not really. Just that people are being more responsible and the government here has the authority and power to make sure you're more responsible. I'm personally not really against quarantines either, I believe they should've taken that measure much earlier.

So credit where credit is due; the Chinese government has done a pretty solid job (like maybe a 52-30 season-ish job) of managing the virus once things went nuts, but the in the lead-up to the pandemic they get a 12-70 record-breaking lottery autumn of incompetency.

And again, I've read people saying that it's the local Wuhan government that's to blame, that they were just sucking up to their bosses and trying to not get in trouble...WELL THAT'S THE PROBLEM THEN, ISN'T IT? This type of sycophancy and brown-nosing is one of the worst parts of living here. It's not Communist, it's not Socialist, it's nothing but a big f*cking stain. So if this virus causes some sort of internal overhaul, that'd be good too.

I really feel bad for all the families affected, all over the world. I'm worried for my friends, both IRL and online. I know we'll make it through, though. Both excuse-making and scapegoating are two sides of the same coin--unnecessary noise when what we should be doing is helping one another.

Dude's a Loyal Fox News viewer. The seeds of his anger were sowed during childhood when he was forced into prostitution as a young boy on the streets of Shanghi. He survived by dumpter diving and trapping small animals that shouldnt be eaten. His favorite movie is They Call Me Bruce. Sometimes he dreams that hes a member of the white lotus clan. He's not big on American viruses but he's passionate about foreign viruses.

Thank you very much, we need real insiders who understand both sides here and who is objective enough.

That is the point of tackling a crisis.

Rather working together than pinning blame on someone/something. Or at least understand the problem.

have we forgotten that most new cases and deaths are still originating in China, even today?

It’s amazing what people will believe when they watch shitty propaganda videos instead of looking at data for information.
