Not to be down on any of the players donating, but aren't those just effectively tax right offs? A good way to spend their tax money if so.
One is limited to how much of their charitable contributions they can deduct in any given year (although one does receive a carry over that generally ends after 5 tax years). Also, if the receiving entity is not a 501(3)(c), it is most likely not deductible at all.
