btw: if you read that thread, 8hrs would be one of the slowest options versus many other countries. Germany has a 1-hour test. The machines are already in the US, but awaiting “FDA Approval”, lulz. I was never under the impression that Italy was fast to respond. It was my understanding that their failure to take the virus seriously is not only what got them to this point, but also a major factor in why countries like ours are taking this seriously. But I could be mistaken on this specific topic. Lots of conflicting information, especially early-on.
I doubt it but if they are, bring out the guillotine. As far as waiting for cdc, my understanding is during a declared health emergency, cdc needs to approve all tests. They messed up their own testing and they didn’t have plan B and plan C going at the same time.
Hey if it makes you feel any better the Mayor of Las Vegas has come out and claimed that the city is completely safe and that the media has decided to destroy the economy of Las Vegas.... that if the casinos were not completely safe, they would be closed.
Maybe,,,I have insider source at Cleveland Clinic. They have a innovation dept which handles all their funding for productizing research and manages their spin-off “Technology Transfer” companies. This Testing product would fall under their purview The source is my sisters husband who is head director of that department. He testified to the Senate last summer stating Cleveland Clinic will internally green light product R&D *before* such funding like the Congress Bill just passed on March 4th. Just like any company; they’d greenlight risk/reward if being first is huge. But what they would wait for is a level playing field. If they thought their investment would be ignored in an unfair competitive environment, he’d pass...as they’ve got plenty of other products to attend to. At some point I’m going to ask him what happened, but not important enough for me to burn a question like that with him. Plus, I couldn’t post any answer if it suggested the govt and CDC had favorites, and didn’t create a fair, competitive environment until 3/4...he wouldn’t OK that.

This isn’t true, unless you mean they get to approve the ones they buy for their use. There is Public Lab Testing now. That approval is FDA. See the link I posted of the German company stating they are awaiting FDA approval. And, as I stated in my last post, I know for a fact Cleveland Clinic doesn’t wait for govt statement or funding bills to pass to start product R&D. Just like any company, they will assess risk/reward of starting early, to be first. I’m guessing...total guess...that based on the fact there already were fast tests developed by other countries, the Clinic was waiting for word on whether US was going to allow those to flood the market, or other such market assessment. ie Were innovation companies hesitant due to mix signals from govt regarding the market??
