If plan is really to rebuild (I am still hopeful our team/harden comes together), then we need to do it ASAP

Our assets are old. If we act now, can still get a lot back for Russ/harden/Covington. Get some expiring contracts/young talent/picks and we are good to go
    On

He has a big contract. We may need to package a pick for someone to take him

Excellent thread, I found it very soothing and calming. No idea why some people are so negative around here. Great thoughts, will read again!

I just want to point out that it's not that easy to rebuild. Morey did an incredible job, Boston has done a great job, the Warriors did a great job, but there are countless teams that haven't. It requires an immense amount of management skill and luck to make it happen. For every Boston/Houston rebuild, there is a Kings, Cavs, Suns, Hornets, Wizards, Bulls etc.

Be careful what you wish for, it may end up being a decade of basketball misery.

It takes only 2 years for Clippers to rebuild the champ team, not bad.

I’d trade for first round picks from bad teams first.

These teams wii win the west from 2021 to 2030. Big city.
    Clippers, Lakers, GSW, Mavs, Rockets.

The following team will not win the west next decade.
    Pelicans, Memphis, Denver, Utah, OKC.

I want to be like you. How you do it? What's your occupation? They say happiness in smart people is a rarity.

see, i disagree... I think its much funner to b**** n moan - at least you get to vent and poke fun... Otherwise you can be 'optimistic' - but it usually just looks delusional and ends in disappointment... at least thats what my 35+ years as a Rockets fan has led me to believe... lol

Kings still rebuilding from their Chris Webber era...

    Bulls still rebuilding from Rose...

Hornets been rebuilding since their inception.

Yeah, rebuilding is no sure thing. You basically just suck until you luck your way into a star player. Unless your team plays in LA or NYC.

Who’s the next Houston team to actually have a 1st round pick?

I would wait four years to rebuild. Then build around House, Harty, and Clemons.

This is cruel and unusual punishment. From Steve and Cuttino, to TMac and Yao, to Adelmans loveable losers. To James.

it was supposed to be different. We were due. Houston sports landscape is just a nuclear wasteland and it sucks.
