I been saying this for years check my posts. HARDEN plays when he wants too. When is shot is not falling and he plays zero defense he is sad.
Which is the exact reason he wants to appease James. He's gonna kiss ass and hope everything works out well enough.
If James is getting outplayed thru his best effort that will happen but some of the unforced errors have to be eliminated because the competition may play flawless which makes the rockets margin for error small. He has to play up to his own standards right now and he isn't. He will get it together. I just wish he would take a bit more easy shots when he is struggling.
it really is time for a new GM. Have you not noticed the meddling narcissitic Moray vouching for this crap?
Yes you’re right OP —> most head coaches will get fired before the main player of a NBA team. That is common knowledge so most employed coaches tiptoe around their top talent; a coach cost less money and is replaceable with a phone call. Other common knowledge, MDA has gotten the most out of Harden and now Westbrook; their careers are better because of MDA. Coach’s next challenge is do it at the same time.
I think part of the disconnect seems to be that the great offensive teams that D'antoni has coached in the past ended up actually having a fluid sense of ball movement. This current Rockets team is mainly built around efficiency and depends heavily on shot %. It starts with the GM office and drips down to coaching but superstars have to buy into it. I think it can work as long as you have the right quality players. You really need a great glue guy like Draymond Green and and some really good knock down 3 point shooters (something we don't currently have). Our shooters are mainly guys who are capable of getting hot but don't consistently knock down 3 point shots like the dominating Suns / Warriors teams. You also need some capable PF/C who can play some spot minutes against the teams who have taller players as well, as some of the more successful teams were trying to copy in the past have shown us.
Hey Harden stan, when it's not working, maybe do something else...unless Harden lacks the BB IQ to understand that. It's not rocket science.
McHale advanced WC the previous season after overachieving the prior season and was then fired early into the following season for obvious reasons. How many times has similar happened in league history that wasn't directly caused by the star player? If McHale sucks so bad, MDA should easily have Harden playing differently.
Harden can't help it. It's either jack up a bad shot or turnover!? 10 turnovers in a nba game is just very bad!
This is what you guys don't understand. Harden doesn't get half the amount of space and time the other big stars do. The other team solely focuses on just stopping Harden. As soon as he starts attacking their paint, there are 2 or 3 guys straight on Harden's case. Yes, there are a few times where he does have a wide open mid-range shot.... but it's very rare. I suppose he could do post fade shot.... but getting that off, with the amount of attention he brings, is not easy. It also probably means he'll be double teamed way more, and he'll probably have way less space to pass it to a guy who is wide open. So bringing up those 2014/2015 videos of him hitting post fades and mid-range shots are irrelevant, simply because the other team didn't guard Harden as tightly as they do now, and they certainly didn't double team him back then..... and they certainly didn't have 2 to 3 guys on Harden as soon as he got close to the paint back then. And he obviously doesn't lack BB IQ if he's mostly top 10 in assists every year. Him doing what he's doing now is fine. He still creates a crap ton of opportunities. Like tonight, he had 14 assists to go with his 30 points. The problem on most nights with James Harden isn't his production, it's down to whether his 3pt efficiency is good or not. Or also down to if the supporting cast will hit their shots most nights.... Harden gets them open, they just need to hit their shots, which they don't most nights. Like I said, you guys wouldn't be moaning about Harden's "predictable" style if his 3pt shots were going in like they normally do. When things are going good and we're winning games, you're never here to congratulate Harden. But when things are going bad, you're on his case and wanting him to change his own style of play all because his shooting has been inconsistent in the last 2 months. I also guarantee you won't be b****ing about Harden's style of play when he starts carrying us again. Look at how many negative threads Harden has got over the past months compared to players like House, Tucker, Gordon.... and so on. It's a total knee-jerk overreaction.....and you guys know it is. It's actually ridiculous how many negative threads you guys have made about Harden. It's a total disrespect and disgusting behavior for a guy who has done so much for the Rockets.
This is when you change your game up and play off the ball where it's not as easy to double you. That's on Harden and MDA. He's arguably the best, or one of the best offensive players in history, so there's no way he shouldn't be able to find different ways to combat what the defense is doing. By the way, I'm one that even when we were winning this year and in past years, I can't/couldn't stand the way he plays. I root for him, cause he plays for my team, but he's hard to watch even when he's scoring 40+.
Harden is not one of best offensive players of all time. 1. Rafer alston was better 2. aaron brooks was better 3. steve francis was better 4. ron artest was better than harden 5. cassell was better 6. kenny smith was way better 7. vernon maxwell was better but only slightly better than harden 8. clyde drexler was better 9. mcgrady was more skilled than harden You not the only one that feels harden is hard to watch.
you can't be the best offnsive player in history if your game revolves around 2 moves that get shut down in critical moments, particularly in the post season. (Hasn't always been the case but it is as of recent). Both Kobe and Jordan were leagues ahead. There was no stopping them. From running up court you weren't dead sure they were gonnna pull up for a 3 or pummel into a crowd in the paint for an offensive foul. Everybody was always on their toes
