Breaking. Announced his retirement to open his show and then was replaced on air.

Instantly thought of that bit about him on Last Week Tonight.

Sad and not necessarily for the best, but probably unavoidable given the current state of affairs.

I liked him and heard he was actually a nice guy.

I haven't read any of the accusations against him yet. Hopefully they're not too bad and he can make amends for whatever he's been accused of.

He had a lot of experience but sometimes was very irresponsible as a journalist. I would like him to have guest spots and share his experiences but never be at the helm and being responsible for delivering news.

    Good move getting him out.

That’s what the dumbass gets for comparing Bernie’s Nevada win to a Nazi takeover and saying he’d be fearful of getting beheaded under a Bernie presidency.

Good. Never liked him. Not because of his politics but because he's one of the most unprofessional journalists on TV news. I felt his days were numbered after the Laura Bassett sexual harassment allegations came out a few days ago. Honestly, MSNBC should have parted ways with him many years ago.

There are several other prominent journalists and pundits at MSNBC that need the heave-ho.

Wow. I knew the Bernie Bros were powerful, but Matthews was a leftie icon in television opinion. Surprised by this.

He was a moderate Dem and nowhere near a leftist.

He was lazy and spread the false narrative that Gore claimed to have invented the internet. Always hyped the middle of the road candidate in elections.

Is it supposed to be acceptable to compare a primary win of a Jewish man to a Nazi take over? In what world is that not a fire-able offense for someone working cable news?

This isn’t a Bernie bro thing, that guy cost himself his own job. I understand we don’t like cancel culture and political correctness anymore, and I’m not crazy about any of that myself, but there is still lines you don’t cross.

What is a moderate Dem to you? Like what policies would they support in caricature of a "moderate Dem" that is in your thoughts?
