That’s literally his take every time. It’s reductive but I understand why many people think that way.

From the fans perspective, we know we’ve been coming up short against Golden State (who as we’ve been told is one of the historically great teams). From the non rockets fans perspective, all you will take from the previous years is that the Rockets have never pushed through and gotten that big playoff victory over their rival. It’s tough to bet on that.

Harden and company are "boy cried wolf".

There is no need for hype when harden can't even go at somebody in the nba all star game!?!?

Cp3 dropped buckets from the bench at all stars!!!

This is the biggest reason I love the trade. For whatever reason harden couldn’t take over the game. Russ is a dog. The Alpha Junkyard dog. His pure will and drive will get us over the hump

    1. What if the Houston Rockets flame out of the playoffs?

What's at stake: The Rockets have been one of the NBA's best teams since acquiring James Harden in 2012 (third-best regular-season record, fourth-most postseason victories), but this spring could mark the end of an era. By trading for Russell Westbrook and Robert Covington, Houston has gone all-in on the season by fully embracing small ball.

After an on-again, off-again contract extension, coach Mike D'Antoni is in the final year of his deal. Even though Harden is under contract through 2021-22, does he look for other options if things go south?

What league insiders expect: If the Rockets fail to advance deep into the postseason, the consensus is that D'Antoni returning would be unlikely. People around the league are less certain about general manager Daryl Morey's future, though.

Meanwhile, voluntarily moving Harden isn't expected to be in play. But whether Houston can remain a part of the contending group going forward remains up for debate.

"It's a league of elite-level players," one executive said. "If you have one or more of them, you can generally figure the rest out."

"I think they're a house of cards, man," another said. "They don't have any depth. There's nothing credible there."

The Rockets need to ignore this noise and stay focused on winning. I wonder what would happen if the Lakers or Bucks fail to advance to the finals or deep into the playoffs. How are we always the target of these articles? Everyone is well aware of MDA and Morey's situations. They have written and talked about it 100 times it seems like. And where is this moving Harden crap coming from? Let's talk about Utah moving Gobert or Mitchell after they flame out again. How about Denver moving Jokic or Murray once the get embarrassed again this post season.

The odds are never and will never be in favor of one team winning it all. Something these analysts have never analyzed in their lives bevause their analysis amounts to the piece of paper handed to them before cameras roll.

'Good' is so relative anyways... like.... we've been beaten by a legendary Warriors team for 4 of the last 5 playoffs (and once booted by a Pop-led Spurs team that we always struggled against), and so was everyone else pretty much. We're not "GREAT" come May/June, but when did not getting past the Warriors and winning a title become the measurement for just not being good? Does beating Portland, Utah, Dallas, LAC, Minnesota, etc all not count?

We haven't been good enough to get past this generations brick wall of a team.

That doesn't mean we haven't been good in May/June.

You forget when the times Curry, Durant, and Thompson went down and we still couldn't execute and win. Not to mention CP3 and his fragile ass

League insiders are just as b****y and ignorant as the media.

Same insiders hated the 7 Seconds or Less Suns ... until they didn't.

It would be a shame if Tilly turned out to be as shortsighted and cheap as Sarver, and Kerr.

At least Kerr figured it out at his next stop and brought in Alvin Gentry to install most of MDA's philosophies and plays.
