Why does it feel like the XFL refs are a lot better than the NFL ones?

Or is it just that I'm not paying attention? The NFL refs seem to control games a lot more...

I'll be surprised if Walker isn't on an NFL team this preseason and given a real shot.

Not that he'll make an NFL team but it looks like his stint with the Colts he didn't even get pre-season snaps.

Especially teams with a mobile QB like the Texans even would love to have a backup that could be mobile as well

Correction, he did play in 4 preseason games and was forgettable, he's young enough though that he probably gets another look.

I’ll take him as DW4 backup. That was one helluva throw

    ^ And STILL in 1st place :)

Next game at Tampa Bay on Saturday. National TV game on ABC (Channel 13). This maybe a trap game? Tampa is 0-2 and it’s the 1st big test on the road for the Roughnecks.

The XFL refs aren't fixing games.

Yep, that was actually pretty entertaining. Even felt hyped after that late Interception..... PJ made some nice throws.

(Sunday was the first time I caught an XFL game.....)

What about teams with sturdy QBs?

Yup. Pretty good football so far and the flow of the game is a HUGE improvement.

Then they should have Matt Schaub as their backup QB.

If your QB is sturdy then just use that roster spot for acquiring another bust CB that a team cut. You can never have enough of those guys.

This is like 98% of my beef with current NFL. I know the product is fundamentally broken when my viewing experience is improved by waiting an hour and then DVR fast forwarding through all the stops in the stop-and-go flow of the game. Too many dumb rules, too many flags, too many stoppages, just too much filler and not enough actual content. The XFL does a great job of minimizing these problems and where there *is* deadtime they give you things like live audio or whatever else to put meaningful content into the broadcast.

The 25 second play clock alone makes a big difference. Also dude with the Xbox controller doing instant replays is almost seamless. Compared to the NFL pausing, rewinding, slo-mo, reverse slo-mo, etc...in 3 different angles is just excruciating.

Sounding like I might have to check out the game this weekend.

Like someone else said, this all reminds me of the Gamblers back in the day. Everyone was tired of the Oilers and looking for something new. Sound familiar?.......

I remember fearing him in the AAC at Temple. He was a crafty, smart, gritty player. He never really destroyed anyone with sheer numbers, but he was a pain in the ass to defend. He was a perfect fit for that grind-it-out defense.
