Have you ever seen someone that can get to rim with this kind of speed/athleticism like westbrook?

Remember when Kyle Lowry was here? He could bang with the best, and in a package smaller than that.

I could go back even beyond guards not afraid to go straight to the cup... Tiny Archibald was great at drawing contact because no one could keep up with him.

Go back even further than Julius Erving and you have Connie Hawkins... the "original" high-flyer.

But man... if it ain't fun to watch WB go to the hole... that's the point of this anyway. :D

For only being listed at 6'3", Francis could get up there rather high.

D-wade wasnt a bulldozer with power though. Westbrook overpowers opponents. Its crazy what hes been able to do while just not chucking threes.

If I had to compare him to someone. Mix Prime D-Wade with Shawn Kemp. Energy Galore and Tough overpowering athleticism

Westbrook just is raw, uninhibited power. Power is energy divided by time, and that's what we see: lots of energy in a short amount of time on his plays.

James is an arsonist that burns your team down from all angles. Russ is a bomb. Both are devastating in their own way.

Francis was just as quick and alot of his moves are based on crafty handles.

Francis sacrificed his game running set plays for yao Ming!

Lowry would not be denied a nba championship.

As much as I believed in the splash brothers, I knew Lowry would find a way to get the win.

Hate klay Thompson got messed up.

He should lead rockets to promise land, if he and harden have super games. I just dont know where the rebounding is gonna come from, hope westbrook, tucker and james can all rebound 10 a game lol.

I see a bunch of Steve Francis mentions, Iverson, Marbury, Rod Strickland, Kevin Johnson and even a Kyle Lowry mention but I’m not gonna let this thread go any longer than 7 pages without a single mention of Baron Davis. I’m not surprised though... dude’s always been underrated.

Lowry’s body style, Francis hops, WB strength and he didn’t have to bully or bulldoze guys cause he was smooth AF with the handles.

Yes there are a lot of players who played like in the past lol.

Iverson, DRose, Steve Francis, Marbury, Dwade all these guys played the same way and were the best driving to the rack. If you didnt look at the same position then Giannis, Shaq, Griffin, Dwight, young Lebron and of course Zion.

I guess what sets WB apart though is at age 31 and considering he just came from arthroscopic surgery it is surprising he still hasnt lost a step and is still an athletic beast. Him, Blake and Drose are all the same age but those other guys already have 1 foot in role player territory but WB is still BeastBrook.

Yes. I've seen Russell Westbrook do it his entire career. Where have you been?

Also, I think Ja Morant may be even faster.

Would have loved to see young MJ have open lanes and to an extent DRose, since it's even more open than his MVP young days, but he's still the same player really.. AI and Stevie, i mean sure, but they just loved pointless dribbling too much. Westbrook is more young MJ like in that he just makes the simplest moves with 1 goal to get to the basket. Not a bunch of fancy handles to get minimal seperation or take lots of seconds to finally get good separation.

BUT, if MJ played in those open lanes, we would have missed out on all the brilliant reverses and mid air acrobatics

I like the idea of a mini Nique and Kemp combination

This dude here. Both weak handles, and weak shooting(streaky mid range at best) but acrobatic and ferocious attacking the rim. I'd imagine Westbrook would deliver amazing in traffic dunks too if he were 6'7.

Westbrook is like the guard version of a young Amare Stoudamire.

Nique would have been sick if he got modern NBA spacing. Put him in with 4 shooters and it would have been more sick!!!!!
