What a huge fail. When they said a few weeks ago this was going to be monitored by an app, and it was a former Hilary guy who made it, I knew it was going to fail. What an embarrassment.

    Onto to New Hampshire.

Don’t worry, Iowa eventually will get it right. Weeks ago they said they have backups of backups (when question came up about their untested app). They probably just have to manually count all the ballots and recheck again - should be done sometime after NH.

This #epicfail does nothing for anyone. It’s embarrassing for the DNC and makes the caucus format look even more ridiculous.

It does nothing for Bernie, Pete and Warren that likely performed well, but clearly the results will be tainted due to incompetence. Nobody watched their midnight “victory” speeches. Nobody is going to take the eventual results seriously, and the post-Iowa bump will likely be minimal. Plus, if you’re a frontrunner, you’re unlikely to see any candidates dropout after this fiasco.

So, yeah, unless you’re one of those candidates barely hanging on....tonight did nothing for anyone. A total mess, and an example of why I’m terrified at the thought of November’s election. Can the Dems do anything right? Sometimes I wonder...

    Yeap

they were warned about the app, in particular about it being closed source and with no one else to check for security vulnerabilities and of course no live test of vulnerabilities

this is likely nothing more than some bug and not a hack, but that can’t be ruled out (they are claiming a reporting error at this point)

they do have paper backup, so if procedures were followed, they will get accurate results

anyone at this time claiming rigged has no logical or common sense basis for it

Ps. The unforeseen happen. This is why we always need paper backup (sadly that’s won’t be the case for many states)

They are saying with 32% of the results in, its Pete and Sanders vying for the top spot. Warren a solid 3rd, Klobuchar and Biden fighting for 4th and 5th.
So bad news for Biden and good news for Pete. This will probably be a 3 horse race after tonight.

One tidbit I heard is that they are asking the local caucuses to take pictures of the results and send them in. So something is going very wrong.

Mayor Pete HAS NO CHANCE of winning the Dem Nomination. He can't win the black vote in the South. You cannot be the Dem Nominee without that. Ask Bernie in 2016.

Mayor Pete on my TV claiming victory.
Well, “victory by all indications” to be fair.

The candidates have people in each precinct and have access to all their own data. If he's wrong, his campaign is over - so it would seem pretty dumb unless he's really positive that he knows the correct results. It's telling that all the other campaigns were vague about the results and he's outright saying he won.

This is smart by him. Chaos is a ladder. He knows he didn't win, but Iowa is not really about the delegates, it's the press after a win. If Mayo Pete fakes it until the results are leaked he can ride a wave of viability into other states.

Bernie too principled to do something that sneaky. He should have done it. He sheepishly said he did well; he should have walked on that b**** like the winner like this dude Pete.

Pete has the most to lose. He needs Iowa and he spent so much time and energy campaigning there. He has a good shot of winning and now it might get swept under the rug if he wins.

If Biden doesn't get even delegates what does it mean for him? He was polling the 2nd highest, if he really gets below 15% it might be an indicator of how (un)motivated his support is.

That being said this is based on rumors. Guess we'll have to wait.

LOL. You do understand that there's a paper trail and each candidate has their own people in each precinct that can verify the results for their campaigns. There's no way to rig Iowa results. Your conspiracy theories are kind of pathetic.

Why are Iowa and New Hampshire this meaningful in choosing the leader of the free world?
