I would like this move. I'm one of the few that liked the trades minus the Clowney one that was butchered from the get go. I just think for a head coach to be the GM, the head coach has to earn that promotion. Ironically, being the almost team gets you all the love from the Mcnairs.
I've been clamoring for Cal to open his fat mouth just once during his entire tenure as owner, and now that he finally has, I really want him to shut the **** up.
Would have rather hired AJ Hinch and Jeff Luhnow, even if they know nothing about football operations, over BoB.
Who knew? The "progress" on the field was because they fired Gaine and gave O'Brien more power! Never mind they went from 11-5 to 10-6, same shitty offense, defense got worse but "progress" because they gave O'Brien more power!
He has the pull but he is smart enough to delegate duties to others to help him out. BOB actually plans to do everything himself. Hes the GM the Coach the de facto OC calling the plays.
Watch us get to the AFC championship game next season, flame out, and McNair hands Bob the ownership of the team. Would not even be surprised.
This has NEVER been about the ineptitude of O'Brien (he is who he is....a bumbling idiot). This franchise will never win a SB as long as the McNair's continue to own the team.
At what point does the good will wear off, and we actually start holding the McNairs personally responsible for the shitshow they've brought to our doorstep?? The more I read Cal's statement, the angrier I get. Bill O'Brien is the ONLY coach in this division to have not made it to the AFC Championship game during his tenure. Let that sink in. The ****ing JAGUARS with Blake ******* Bortles got to one. The ****ing TITANS with Ryan Tannehill for half a season got to one. And both teams did it with coaches who have less experience than our Coach/GM. It's a ****ing joke, and we're the butt of it because we continue to be happy to "just have football."
guys! its going to be okay! The ONLY reason the Texans don't win next year is bc O'Brien does not have enough responsibility! I mean head coach, GM, play caller may not be enough honestly. probably need to add him to our active roster so that we can insert him into the game when needed. also strong consideration is needed for him to do the PA announcements because I think it will really get the crown going, and ofcourse we need him to lead the cheerleaders lastly, he needs to be in charge of team nutrition … guaranteed super bowl!
He has the longest tenure in the NFL for a coach who has never reached a conference championship game. Let THAT sink in. I guess the good news is that the "DOESN'T MATTER BRIAN" meme is still good for another few seasons.
