You can't beat a 3 bedroom room apartment with random firework noises at night for $500 a month. You got a bus station and thru my curtains a nice view of greenspoint mall.

    Kemah.

There's this fan fest in Kemah for the Houston team that I love.

When is the one for HOUSTON though?

Kemah? Sorry but the idea of having it down there is straight up dumb.

Now I can hear Tillman forcing Worrell to say "Harden from the Pleasure Pier" instead of from LaBranch

All senseless self brand promotion from the Fertitas. Surprised it took this long. Not looking forward to Bubba Gump replacing the Lexus Lounge

I have one more year on my relocation package (moved to SD, CA in '17). We really want to come back to Texas in 2020.

If you're gonna move to Texas, I highly recommend moving to Houston. Preferably Inside the Loop.

Wow. Austin's home prices have really zoomed up, haven't they? I'm not surprised, considering what the city says our house is worth. I'm just glad it's paid for and my age puts a cap on a lot of the property taxes. Nice to see the high salaries, though. We have one kid making a killing as a software developer in Austin, and the other, a recent graduate, who might end up working here. We hope so. Houston's low cost of living continues to attract people from across the country. Seems like it's always been that way with Houston.

When it comes to real estate, Houston's always had a lack of scarcity caused by infinite land area to build on. Don't see this changing in the foreseeable future.

For better or worse, people will continue coming.

Unfortunately for Austin, the only area with a bunch of land to build on is east of the city. Few want to live there, except for near East Austin. Yet the city continues to be wildly popular, with the limited desirable "build area" getting squeezed, driving up home prices, while large numbers of homes are built in the fragile Hill Country to the west, northwest, and southwest (where we live). 300 a day are moving here, and many come from the West Coast and the Northeast, where they can sell their homes and buy one in Austin for a hell of a lot less (same with Houston and Dallas, but not as "desirable"), banking the rest or getting a much larger home, perhaps with a view. We've lived here since 1980, and boy, have things changed.

Mid-to-high six figure entry price point for property ownership, hyperpolitical and selective condo cooperative boards, multi-month fee apartment brokers, hyperexpensive, limited off-street parking, perpetually hyperselective seller's market for rental properties, literally no way New York City is less expensive or, just as importantly, more accessible.

Also, commuting in New York is significantly longer and more congested, so you can't live 30-50 miles out, drive to-and-from work within a morning or evening and rent or own for less than $750/month like you can in the Houston area.

I don't understand... expensive to live is not the same as affordable. and only 45% of households actually own a car.
