    1. Add a Guard; Scerff or Thuney

    2. Add Robert Quinn .. defenses have to pick who they will double .. JJ or Quinn

    3. Hire an "actual" OC

Feel like that's been our approach in the past but we just can't shake those mid-round busts. Injuries are a factor but it's hard to build any type of depth when a lot of your mid/late round picks are only playing a handful of games in their Texans career at best, hell some of these guys never even suited up. Texans are remarkably good on hitting in the 1st round which is somewhat scary given we won't have any the next 2 drafts.

    2015 - Strong, Mumphery, Cliett
    2016 - Braxton, Ervin, Dillon
    2017 - Foreman, Davenport, Decoud
2018 - Rankin, Coutee, Akins/Thomas (remains to be seen), Kelly
    2019 - Warring

And bargain hunting in FA hasn't been much better: Kelemete, Henderson, Colvin, Kalil, Boddy-Calhoun, etc...

Stats say otherwise. We know the coaching and offensive system is making a difference for Mahomes at the moment.

Um...Warring was an IR stash this season. Because they already had 4 TEs at the end of camp.

Right, but it also says something when you IR stash your 3rd round TE due to a concussion for the likes of Jarrell Adams and Logan Paulsen. Hell think it says something when you sign a FA TE and draft another in the 3rd round, just after drafting 2 the year before. I'm still high on Warring but it goes back to the point that its hard to build depth when your mid to late round guys aren't getting on the field, whatever the reason.

They stashed him because Fells, Akins, Adams (who played well in camp). Once on IR he couldn't come off (unless the designated him, which they wouldn't for a rookie). Jordan Thomas was also on IR, so he was going to comeback ahead of Warring. Paulsen was on the team briefly because of an injury. Warring was rookie with no NFL experience, it doesn't say anything about him because they chose to use VETERANS ahead of him...especially since he missed so much of camp

Lol when did third year players with one career TD become a "VETERAN?" As I said, stashing your 3rd round pick for the season, especially due to a non-season ending injury, is not ideal when trying to build depth. You hope for some type of contribution these picks, the earlier the better. You'll never hit on all of them but unfortunately it's something this franchise has struggled with, not saying it won't happen next season or down the line.

Agreed. I hope they're not expecting Warring to start. He should be battling for the backup spot. I would sign Hunter Henry, re-sign Fells, and let Warring work his way up the depth chart.

Assuming they’d only want to keep 3 TEs on the 53, you think both Jordans would be the odd men out?

The guy had a serious concussion.....who wasn't going to be ready for the regular season opener and had missed 2 week of camp. Teams stash players that miss that much camp and are rookies. Basically gives them a "red shirt" year.

Oh definitely. Justin Reid might be the only player left from that draft class come September.

Ya not sure about that. But pretty sure BoB can’t afford to keep giving “red shirt” years and expect to field a team with quality depth.

You are not going to use an IR return on the 4 string TE.

Agreed. But drafting a 4th string TE in the 3rd round is the problem we’re talking about here.

The kid has talent. 4th string because he was a rookie and missed a lot of camp.
