Would trade Capela, House, Nene, Tabo, and a 1st round pick for Covington and Dieng. Not only would you get Covington, but also a center who can hit 3s. I think having Dieng and Hartenstein on the 3pt line would open things up for our drivers.

Having Dieng would also open things up for the drivers of the opponents, and he'll end up benched most of the times, making Tilman pay a ton of luxury for it, ain't happening, and in this case i'd say rightfully so.

Dude hit a couple of 3s against us playing zero defense and you guys want to trade Capela and picks to get Dieng who has been literally another Ryan Anderson for the last three years

Dieng is averaging 1 block in 18 minutes per game. Capela is averaging 1.7 blocks in 33 minutes. I don't see much of a difference in that regard. But regardless, you'll have to give up something to get Covington.

Probably going to have to give 2 FRP in any Covington deal.

NYN: Nene, Tucker, Frazier, Rockets FRP

MIN: Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith, Gerald Green, Rockets FRP

    HOU: Covington, Okogie, Wooten

I thought the consensus was Dieng was hot garbage? Plus, aren't they looking for a playmaker? Why not sub out one of the players and add Clemons?

Not that they'll go for that...but it's fun to speculate.

I used to be of that mind but that ship has sailed.

Tucker no longer untouchable with his lack of production last 2 months.

Bet it improves if he doesn't have to go 35 a game anymore. I've no idea why MDA is thinking by playing Tucker this many minutes. And at the 5 too? Just WTF does he think the Rockets have iHart for?

That said, if it's due to a severe injury, and Harden is OK with letting his shoe buddy go, they probably have to consider it.

I like the creativity you've shown.

If Boston has always wanted Capela, and Marcus Smart is superfluous to requirements since they have Walker...

And, Minnesota wants a playmaker, and Covington is up for grabs.

And the Rockets need a defensive 4 who can shoot a little, with most of Capela's production being reproducible for a lot less money by some inexpensive defensive 5...

Then why not a three team trade? Each of the three makes around the same 11-15 million dollar salary this year. Add/subtract role players and draft picks as needed.

Keep in mind there are many jobs at the management and coaching level. That provides extra motivation to try and convince ownership to trade more assets than usual in an effort to win enough to save jobs.

My point being (while I am skeptical) it is possible the Rockets offer two #1 picks for Covington and someone like Diop.

More than anything the Rockets need athletic wings that can defend, are long, can get out in transition offensively and defensively and can guard multiple shots. That fits Covington perfectly and Diop can already defend and is long.

Covington has a 7’3 wingspan and is 6’8”. Diop has a 7’3” wingspan and is 6’7”. Both are adequate three point shooters.

Covington is 29 years old and doesn’t fit the model timeline for the Wolves.

I just do not see how, if Covington is on the block, the Rockets are not easily outbid by other teams. Covington fits everywhere. He'll have many suiters with much more assets than us.
