Lol Aaron judge trolling Tuve by congratulating him on his 2017 MVP. This season is going be painful.

He is the spark plug from the offensive and personality stand point. Keeping Springer here is the right thing to do. He just keeps getting better and hits on the big stage. Plus he has grown through the lowly seasons.

I've always thought of Springer as the most expendable of the stars but the more you hear about his influence and effect on the clubhouse the more he seems like possibly the least expendable.

that’s not good news. He was going to be an Astro in 2020 regardless. Good news would have been an extension beyond this season.

Good news that they were able to agree on a deal.

Good news is avoiding arbitration...very sticky process, and great news is we’re getting that 2020 ring!

I really like that we gave Springer 1M over the midway point PLUS extra cash for incentives. Hopefully that has a beneficial affect on his thoughts on HOU and keeps an extension in play.

In terms of player punishments there is also a players union which makes punishing players more complicated and take lot longer (appeals, etc.). There is no executive or manager union and the previous memo on this made it clear executives would be punished.

Agreeing and not going to arbitration is, in fact, good news. Never good to drag a player through that process if you can avoid it.

also shows the two sides are able to work together on a deal, at least to a small extent that would indicate the possibility of an extension is good

Yes this is the good news we need to hear. The question is who did the negations and who will be doing it once Springer is a FA?

Extension still possible. They’ll just lump in this last agreed year with whatever it ends up being (like they did with Verlander and Altuve’s).

Still makes too much sense for both sides. Unless Springer does want to go back to New England.

2020 = the year that the entire twitter feed goes GARM, except you actually know who some of the posters are in real life.

While it is good news Astros avoided arbitration with Springer, I will say I was disappointed when I saw it was only for one year.

That Reddick interview is brutal. These dudes are in for a rough season. If I were a guy who didn’t cheat, it would be utterly impossible for me not to defend myself.
