Iran isn't Saddam's Iraq a couple of decades ago. It is a huge country with a far larger population that have missiles that are vastly better to the Scuds that Saddam tossed around. We won't simply "sit back" and bomb the hell out of their military and infrastructure without getting seriously hurt in the region while doing so. In my opinion.

Would be best not to respond back. Whats done is done, no need to escalate this BS. It sucks having a person that acts based on his ego in office. Maybe if he does something stupid without Congressional approval senator turtle and Republicans will have a change of heart and impeach his ass.

Conflicts are resolved through diplomacy. And we have Donald Trump.

    This is scary.

I am logging on to post this. This makes me so sad. A truly visceral sadness and fear. It had been a few days so I figured maybe nothing would happen from the assassination of that big wig Iranian general. Then I see a news break on Reddit saying multiple of our bases were struck with rockets.

This was 100% avoidable but is now 100% inevitable. Hundreds of thousands of civilians are going to die.

Why do Americans have this arrogance that spending a ton of money on our military = we will dominate.

It sure seems like **** didn't work out great in Afghanistan and Iraq. What would be different in Iran?

Best case scenario is that Trump sees his approval dip even more, he fires ****ing idiot and liar Pompeo to be the scapegoat, and be this kind of ends before we level cities or launch nuclear attacks.

Meanwhile new Trump-US bosom buddies "love at first sight" types like Kim, Putin, Erdogan, Xi are laughing their asses off at each flag draped coffin.

    Good job GOP you cowards.

You simply don’t understand modern war. It doesn’t matter how much money we spend, how powerful our military is in a conflict like this, if things get worse. If we go to war with Iran, this won’t be the Gulf War revisited. Shock and Awe with a relatively easy campaign following it isn’t on the table here. Iran has a population of 83 million, is physically vastly larger than Iraq, the terrain is enormously different and unfavorable to the US on the ground if we go that route, and their military in certain areas is far more advanced than Iraq’s under Saddam ever was.

I’m hoping some sane people can convince trump and convince Iranian leadership to bring a quick end to this. I am not optimistic.

Best thing for the US would be for US officials to continue maintaining that nobody died in these attacks.

It's a shame that General Matthis couldn't hold on any longer for the good of the country.
